THE LEFT SIDE of the Youngsville American Bakery was damaged Sunday morning due to an apparent electrical fire.

Fire damages Youngsville building

By Laura Stabbert
YOUNGSVILLE – “I was waiting on a customer, then pow,” Bob Vance, owner of the newly-opened Youngsville American Bakery, said yesterday afternoon.
Sunday morning, Vance was surprised when an apparent electrical fire caused major damage to his bakery along Route 52 in downtown Youngsville.
The fire was called in at 8:30 a.m.
The fire, which was battled by the Youngsville, Jeffersonville and White Sulphur Springs fire departments, also displaced one apartment dweller in the three-story, wood frame building. Smallwood and Livingston Manor also were on standby.
Dorothy Foster, owner of the building, said that the other tenants will also need to relocate temporarily while the roof is being fixed and smoke damage is repaired.
Damage could be seen along the side wall of the bakery and the intense fire melted the siding on the outside of the building.
Foster credited the quick response of the Youngsville Fire Department in preventing further damage.
“They were right on the spot,” she said.
No injuries were reported.
