Cappelli has
brain surgery

By Dan Hust
MONTICELLO — The man behind the redevelopment of the Concord Hotel is in the hospital recovering from surgery.
According to Geoffrey Thompson, spokesperson for Cappelli Enterprises, Louis Cappelli, 58, “suffered a brain aneurysm on July 20 while at his family home on Long Island.
“He underwent successful surgery at a hospital in New York City on July 21 and is expected to make a complete recovery. He is alert and directing all company business on a daily basis.
“The quick initial identification and treatment of the problem by medical personnel and the skilled efforts of emergency medical transport personnel both on Long Island and in New York City resulted in the positive outcome.”
Thompson added that the developer plans to be back in the office by the first week of August, though he remains active even though he is still in the hospital (as of midday yesterday).
“While recuperating, he will be in regular contact with his staff, and all company business is proceeding normally,” said Thompson.
The Concord reconstruction project remains stalled, though rumors abound that Cappelli has acquired the final piece of financing for what is now a $600 million, rather than $1 billion, project, thanks to a recently-passed state bill.
