Voters will weigh in; hearing set Dec. 5

LIVINGSTON MANOR Livingston Manor Central School will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, December 5 at 7 p.m. at the school to hear public comment on its proposed $6.922 million capital project.
The vote will take place Wednesday, December 12 from 28 p.m. In addition to voting on the capital project proposition, voters will also weigh in on a second proposition to allow the Board of Education to expend up to $2 million from the capital reserve fund for the purpose.
Superintendent of Schools Deborah Fox said state building aid will finance about 68.8 percent of the project and will return $5,965,693 to the school over 15 years and the annual debt service will not rise.
Here are the major components (along with subcomponents) of the proposed project:
Sitework $1,105,000
Reconstruct pavement at main parking lot at rear of building: $440,000
Reconstruct pavement at bus lot, including angle parking along school street: $204,000
Reconstruct portions of stone wall along playground: $149,000
Plumbing $475,000
Toilet room renovations: $253,000
Space utilization: $1,800,000
Expand the cafeteria and kitchen by extending into the adjacent teachers lounge, toilet room and classroom space: $1,368,000
Electrical $726,000
Classroom electrical updating: $200,000
Emergency generator for when building is used as an emergency shelter: $154,000
Building interior $659,000
Improve auditorium acoustics: $225,000
Replace asbestos plaster ceiling in auditorium/gym: $140,000
Mechanical systems $638,000
HVAC system controls: $330,000
Building envelope $369,000
Replace windows at 1960 addition and breezeway: $215,000
