Two men charged with murder in death of Narrowsburg woman

NARROWSBURG — Two men have been arrested as the culmination of an investigation into the December 13, 2008 death of Catherine Novak, 41, of Narrowsburg.
On September 27, 2012 the New York State Police in Liberty arrested Scott Sherwood, age 40, of Lindenhurst, for one count of Murder in the Second Degree. He was arraigned before Sullivan County Court Judge Michael McGuire and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail without bail to reappear in Sullivan County Court on October 2.
On September 27, Paul Novak, age 45, of Palm Coast, Florida, was arrested by the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office as a Fugitive from Justice from New York on the following charges; two counts of Murder in the Second Degree and one count of Arson in the Third Degree. The arrest was made in Flagler County, Florida by the New York State Police and the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office.
Novak appeared before Flagler County Circuit Judge Atack, where he was remanded to the Flagler County Inmate Facility without bail. He is scheduled to reappear in Flagler County Court on September 28.
The New York State Police were assisted by the Sullivan County Bureau of Fire and the Sullivan County District Attorney’s Office.
