Manor gets its
pharmacy back

LIVINGSTON MANOR April 2, 2013 After losing its only pharmacy in 2011, Livingston Manor is about to see it return in the same location albeit under a different name and ownership.
“They left everything as-is,” said Sonal Trivedi of the former occupant Medicap of the Siegel Building on Main Street.
Trivedi is a partner in the independent group which owns and operates the Sullivan Pharmacy in Liberty and the Jefferson Pharmacy in Jeffersonville.
She and fellow co-administrator Chitra Chauhan are leasing the approximately 1,200-square-foot space for the new Manor Pharmacy.
“We hope to open in six weeks,” Trivedi affirmed. “We’re just waiting for the state inspections.”
Medicap closed in 2011 after an eight-year run in the hamlet. It struggled with a myriad of issues, including flooding, but Trivedi has already raised the shelves past floodwater heights and anticipates a healthy business.
“This was an existing place that was doing well to begin with,” she said. “We know there was a need.”
She’s also confident it will draw enough customers to compete with pharmacies in neighboring hamlets without drawing too many away from the ones she and her partners run in Liberty and Jeff.
“I will be losing business, but I’ll be gaining from the other competition,” Trivedi predicted, based on the customer service she intends to provide. “I look at it as a net gain.”
A pharmacist in the community for the past 21 years, Trivedi will split her time between Manor and Sullivan but intends to hire new staff, including another pharmacist, who she promised will go “the extra step” with customers Mondays through Saturdays.
An exact opening date and ribboncutting will be announced in the future.
“There is a lot to be put in place,” she acknowledged. “I’m glad there’s a coffee shop next door!”
