Suspect nabbed in PA

PIKE COUNTY, PA — October 1, 2013 — The alleged robber of the Eldred branch of the Jeff Bank was arrested this past Saturday.
Twenty-two-year-old Kevin Lemma of the Long Island community of Holbrook is awaiting extradition to New York State, after being located by the Pennsylvania State Police at an acquaintance’s residence in Pike County, PA, said the NY State Police yesterday.
Charged with robbery in the second degree, Lemma is being held as a fugitive from justice in the Pike County Jail until he can be transferred to Sullivan County for formal arraignment.
The Jeff Bank in Eldred was robbed last Tuesday of an undisclosed amount of money. NY State Police allege that Lemma entered the bank, displayed a handgun and demanded cash. They would not comment on whether the gun was loaded at the time.
Witnesses and the bank’s surveillance system provided police with Lemma’s description, along with the vehicle he was operating. Leads were pursued in Sullivan County, Long Island and Pike County, PA, leading to Lemma’s arrest this past weekend.
State Police were assisted in the investigation by the Town of Highland Constables, the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office, the Nassau County Police, and the Pennsylvania State Police.
