Man held in wife's murder in Mountaindale

MOUNTAINDALE — October 18, 2013 — A 57-year-old Mountaindale man facing criminal firearms possession charges has now also been charged with second-degree murder.
Kevin C. Oefelein stands accused of killing his 54-year-old wife Renee at their Post Hill Road home in Mountaindale on Sunday.
He remains in Sullivan County Jail without bail as Fallsburg and State Police, along with the District Attorney’s Office, continue their investigation, which uncovered guns that Oefelein apparently was not allowed to possess.
“There were numerous weapons,” Fallsburg Chief Simmie Williams affirmed, declining to go into detail.
