Margaret “Dolly” Peck Crosby died at Wayne Woodlands Manor, Waymart, Pa., on Sunday, April 18, 2010, two months short of her 101st birthday. She was born in New York June 13, 1909, a daughter of Louis and Rosemary Purcell Friedel.
Dubbed “Dolly” as a child by her father, she was known by this nickname throughout her life. She was a telephone operator in New York before marriage to Arthur W. Peck, Sr., who predeceased her. She later moved to Damascus, Pa., then Beach Lake, Pa., where she was chief telephone operator at the Big Eddy Telephone exchange for some years.
After the Exchange converted to dial operation, she moved to Florida, where she worked for Bell Telephone Company until her retirement. She enjoyed traveling during her later years.
Surviving are two daughters and two sons, Margaret (Peggy) Seiferling O’Neill of New Port Richey, FL; Millicent “Penny” Gresovic, Clay, NY; Arthur Peck, Narrowsburg, and Frank Peck, Honesdale, PA. There are also numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She was also predeceased by sisters, Louise, Florence, Rosemary and Eileen, and a brother, Gus.
Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements were by Rasmussen Funeral Home.
