Joseph F. Fischer Jr.
Computer Technologist, 38

Joseph Frederick Fischer Jr., a computer information technologist of Deltona, Fla. and formerly of Fosterdale, NY, died Friday, June 4, 2010 in Deltona. He was 38.
The son of the late Joseph Frederick Fischer Sr. and Denise Marie DuBois Fischer, he was born March 11, 1972 in Monticello, NY.
A family statement said, “He loved sports, riding his motorcycle, and installing car stereos.”
He is survived by his daughter, Kira Marie Fischer of Longwood, Fla.; his sister, Deborah Fischer Sedlack of Smallwood; his fiancee, Sandra Daven and her children, Brittani, Breanna, and Michael Daven; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home in Jeffersonville.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 17 at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
Arrangements are by the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home, Jeffersonville.

Sylvia F. Appelbaum

Sylvia Appelbaum, (nee Frieman) at age 91, of Liberty, New York, passed away quietly on June 11, 2010 in Cresskill, New Jersey. 
Sylvia was a resident of Liberty for more than 50 years, where she loved raising her family with Sidney, her devoted husband. She was a community leader and engaged citizen who served the PTA, Women’s Hospital Auxiliary, Congregation Ahavath Israel Sisterhood, and the Mental Health Board, among her many other contributions. 
Sylvia was a true renaissance woman: she loved history, the arts, literature, music, good conversation and company. She was an avid gardener, superb artist, and stellar hostess, as she challenged herself to be a better golfer, bridge player and pianist.
Her elegance, grace and attention to detail were evident in all she undertook.
She is remembered by her devoted son Joel, wife Michelle and son Ed, and by her loving daughter Lynn, husband Joe, and daughters Shosha and Elana.
Sylvia made the world a more beautiful and better place. Her legacy lives on though the lives she touched.  Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 13, at noon, at the Congregation Ahavath Israel, Chestnut Street, in Liberty, New York, with Rabbi Goodman officiating.
Burial will follow in the Ahavath Israel Synagogue Cemetery, in Liberty.

Fred Edwards, 74
Oct. 8, 1935 - June 3, 2010

Fred Edwards, 74, passed away on June 3, 2010 at Cox South Hospital, Springfield, Mo.
He was born October 8, 1935 at Callicoon, NY, to Adna and Hilda (Fries) Edwards.
Fred was married for 49 years to wife Bonnie (Kelsey). He devoted his life to his family and his career. He worked for RT French for 25 years, then Spice Craft for 11 years, and finally Precision Foods for 10 years. His hobbies were fishing and gardening. He will be missed by all.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Gladys Lasher; and grandson Cory Edwards.
He is survived by his wife Bonnie; daughter Cindy and her husband Kenny Perry; two sons, Steve and wife Julie Edwards and Shane and wife Haidi Edwards; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three brothers, Robert, Paul and Donald; one sister, Joan Dirie; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held Monday, June 7, 2010 at the Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home in Springfield, Mo.

Marjorie A. Knack
Sept. 11, 1934 - June 12, 2010

Marjorie A. Knack of the state of Florida, formerly of Sullivan County, died Saturday, June 12, 2010 in Florida. She was 75.
Mrs. Knack was born September 11, 1934.
She was retired from the Sullivan County Department of Public Services and the Pinellas County (Fla.) Sheriff’s Department.
A family statement reads, “Mom was a great lady, lots of fun and full of life and a wonderful mother. She loved her dog Sarge.”
She is survived by her children, Paul D. Knack of Sarasota, Fla., Cynthia L. Smith (husband Alex, son Blake, daughter Katie) of Sarasota, and James A. Knack (wife Beth, sons Shea Herles of North Carolina, Cody Knack and Tyler Knack) of Northport.
She was predeceased by a son, David A. Knack.

Guy Aime Dumas
Retired Chief Engineer, 85

Guy Aime Dumas of Callicoon, a retired Chief Engineer for Irving Trust Bank, died Saturday, June 5, 2010 at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale, Pa. He was 85.
The son of the late Robert and Rolande Alix Meau Dumas, he was born January 23, 1925 in Toulouse, France. He was married to Monique Desjardins Dumas.
Mr. Dumas was a former captain of Auxiliary Police for the NYPD at Staten Island, NY, and a Red Cross CPR instructor.
He is survived by his wife, Monique Desjardins Dumas, at home; one son, Franck Dumas and his wife Darlene of Hortonville; four grandchildren, Joe Ackermann, Jennifer McCarthy and her husband Cris, Phillipe Dumas of the USAF at Little Rock, Ark., and Marcelle Oveson and her husband Christian of Salt Lake City, Utah; great-grandchildren, Jocelyn and Kristian Oveson; a sister, Annie Avinain; a niece, Stephanie and her husband Serge; and a nephew, Stephen and his wife Virginie and their children, Leo and Zoe, all of France.
There will be no visitation.
Services will be at the convenience of the family.

Philip A. Banuat
Bus Driver, 66

Philip A. Banuat of Obernburg, a lifetime resident and a bus driver for First Student of Youngsville, died Sunday, June 13, 2010, at Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. He was 66.
The son of the late Roman and Ida Hust Banuat, he was born October 12, 1943 in Callicoon.
Mr. Banuat was a 50-year member of the North Branch Fire Department, where he was past-chief, and a member of the Fire Police and currently assistant chief; and a member of the NRA.
He is survived by a brother, Dennis Banuat of Obernburg; a stepson, Robert Bivins; two grandsons, Russell and Christopher Bivins; and several cousins.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, June 16 at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home, 34 Upper Main St., Callicoon.
Services will be held at noon Thursday, June 17 at the funeral home. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
