Catherine Rose Gerry
Homemaker, 81

Catherine Rose Gerry of Liberty, NY, a homemaker and lifelong area resident, died Saturday, July 17, 2010 at her home with her family by her side. She was 81.
The daughter of the late Herman and Madeline Muthig Cypert, she was born March 7, 1929 in the Town of Fallsburg, NY.
Catherine was a loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed sewing, baking and reading.
Survivors include two daughters, Annelise Gerry of Bethel, NY, and Robyn Gerry of Liberty, NY; two sisters, Hilda Tillson and her husband Clarence and LaVerne Black and her husband John, all of Woodbourne, NY; her grandchildren, Megahn Melchick-Hughes and her husband Edward, Daniel Melchick, Samantha Jardine, Taylor Jardine, Devin Jardine and Lindsey Jardine; a special brother-in-law, Maurice Gerry; and several nieces. She was predeceased by two brothers, Harold and Fred Cypert.
Visitation will be held Friday, July 23, 2010 from 4-7 p.m. in the Harris Funeral Home, West Street at Buckley, Liberty, NY. Monsignor Edward Straub will offer prayers at 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
Private interment will be in the Sanctuary of Abraham & Sarah in Paramus, NJ.

Raymond Curry
Former Service Mgr., 67

Raymond Curry, 67, of Callicoon Center, NY died at home with his family at his side, on Friday, July 16, 2010 after a long illness.
He was born September 18, 1942 in Paterson, NJ, to Jacoba Curry and the late Norwood Curry.
He graduated from Midland Park High school in NJ in 1960. He served in the Armed Forces during the Cuban Missile Crisis. On April 28, 1977 he was united in marriage to Carolyn Geed in Callicoon Center. Mr. Curry attended Broome County Community College. He worked as a Service Manager at M&M Ford in Liberty, NY for over 20 years. Ray was a former Warden of the Livingston Manor Masonic Lodge and a former Associate Patron for the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 298.
Ray is survived by his wife, Carolyn, at home; his mother, Jacoba Curry (FL); his son and his wife, Peter and Mary Curry (SC); his daughter Susan Curry (Port Jervis); his son and his fiancée, David Curry and Jennifer Sorrell (VA); his daughter and her husband, Samantha (Noble) and Keith McKenzie (TX); grandchildren, Raymond and Jake Curry (SC), Mellissa Howard (Port Jervis), Isabella and Sophie McKenzie (TX); and one brother and his wife, David and Debbie Curry (FL); as well as his beloved cats and bird.
Services were held Monday, July, 19, 2010 from 7-9 p.m. at the Herbert C. Bryant Funeral Home, 29 Pearl Street, Livingston Manor, NY 12758.
A Masonic Service was held, followed by an Order of the Eastern Star service.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Orange & Sullivan County, Inc. or to the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 298.

Grace W. Long
Homemaker, 83

Grace W. Long of Hortonville, a homemaker and a lifelong area resident, died Sunday, July 18, 2010 at Roscoe Community Nursing Home. She was 83.
The daughter of the late Henry W. and Martha M. Stecker Weiss, she was born August 1, 1926 in Callicoon. She was the widow of Clinton F. “Red” Long.
She is survived by her two sons, Chris Long and his wife Betty, and Philip Long and his wife Brenda, all of Callicoon; one daughter, Nancy Sipple and her husband Edward of Minnesota; grandchildren, Brian Sipple, Garrett Sipple and his wife Elizabeth, Ian Long and his wife Carrie, Erika Long Brown and her husband Dwayne, and Kellie Long; stepgrandchildren, Rebecca Sykes and her fiancé Joseph Tinari, Jason Sykes and his wife Kristin, James Sykes and his wife Crystal; and four great-grandchildren, Hailey Long, Joey and Isabella Sipple and Olivia Long.
There will be no visitation.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Pauline Hutchinson, 89

Pauline Forbes Hutchinson (Rudi) died peacefully with family by her side on July 8, 2010. Rudi was deeply devoted to her family. She was 89.
Rudi was born in Paris, France on June 20, 1921. She graduated from the Brearly School and attended the Pratt Institute of Art in New York City.
During WWII Rudi served in the United States Marine Corps. In 1947 she married Charles Black Hutchinson and settled in the countryside of Jobstown, New Jersey, where Charley grew up. There she raised 6 children and delighted in the country life.
Rudi believed in participating in the life of her community. She saw our future in the young. She loved to sit with her children and grandchildren and hear about their latest endeavors. She enjoyed talking about the deeper meanings of life, nature and creativity. She enjoyed photography, skiing, hiking and spending time with family.
Rudi is survived by her sister, Alison Dench; her sister-in-law, Martha Forbes; her children, Renzo Hutchinson and Martha; Harry Hutchinson and Wendy; Ninon Hutchinson and Beau; Emily Hutchinson; Jamey Hutchinson and Patti; and Ellen Morse and Jeff; 9 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.
For the past 13 years, Rudi lived at the Highlands in Wyomissing, Pa. There the staff looked out for her and became her trusted support. Many became as family to her.
Rudi longed to leave this world with as little impact as possible. She will be cremated and her ashes will be returned to the earth in a place she loved. It is the place where she taught her children to sail leaf boats.
A Memorial service will be held at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Monticello, NY, at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 21, 2010.
A memorial service will also be held on Friday, July 23 at 3 p.m. at the Exeter Friends Meeting, 191 Meetinghouse Road, Douglassville, PA, 19518.
