Dr. Isidor “Iz” Yasgur
May 21, 1926 – August 3, 2010

Dr. Isidor Yasgur, who was raised in and loved Sullivan County, died in Florida where he had retired.
Born to Sam and Bella Yasgur in Monticello, and the younger brother of Max Yasgur, he graduated from the Cornell College of Veterinary Medicine in 1949. He began his veterinary practice in Bethel and shortly thereafter moved it to Jeffersonville. From that base he devotedly served both farmers and other animal caretakers in a wide area of the County. In 1954 he obtained his pilot’s license in Livingston Manor. In 1960 he moved to Mamaroneck, New York where he practiced until 1987. His clients, both human and animal, loved “Doc.”
Dr. Yasgur is survived by Eileen, his wife of 63 years, who worked with him shoulder to shoulder in his practice. After retirement they travelled the country extensively before settling in Polk City, Florida. He is also survived by his son Stevan, wife Cherilyn and grandchildren Valerie & Eric; his daughter Carrie, husband Jason and grandchild Ethan; his son David, wife Wendy and grandchildren Jenna, Rachel and Maxwell, and by his son Andrew.
An avid private pilot for many years in Sullivan and Westchester Counties, Iz would have said that on August 3, 2010 he was cleared for his final takeoff.
Private services will be held in Florida and his ashes will be returned to Sullivan County.
