Alice H. Ferber
Former Cook at Davis’ Callicoon Inn, 77

Alice H. Ferber of Callicoon, a former cook at Davis’ Callicoon Inn and a lifetime area resident, died Saturday, October 9, 2010 in Callicoon. She was 77.
The daughter of the late William and Hilda Eldridge Hill, she was born August 26, 1933 in Eldred, NY. She was the widow of Leonard Amos Ferber.
She is survived by six children: Nancy Stalker and her husband Donald of Equinunk, Pa.; Phyllis Ramsey and her husband Ed of Jackson, Tenn.; Joseph Ferber and his wife Coreen of Mongaup Valley; Laurie Ferber and her companion Skeeter Austin of Swan Lake; Ronald Ferber and his wife Janice of Scotsdale, Ky.; and Michael Ferber of Callicoon; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Ernie Hill of Wurtsboro. She was predeceased by a son, Timothy Ferber; a grandson, Joseph Ferber; and by two sisters, Ruth Colo and Hazel C. Covart.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 12 at Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home, 34 Upper Main St., Callicoon.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, October 12 at the funeral home.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Robert Hoffer
Prop., Walking Bear Gift Shop, 58

Robert Hoffer of Callicoon, the proprietor of the Walking Bear Gift Shop in Callicoon and a 14-year resident, died Saturday, October 9, 2010 in Callicoon. He was 58.
The son of the late Michael and Irene Charlton Hoffer, he was born December 29, 1951 in Yonkers, NY. He was married to Adrienne Ruggieri Hoffer.
Bob was an avid hunter as well as a member of Callicoon Fire Department, Callicoon Business Association, and St. James Episcopal Church. He was a committeeman for the Town of Delaware Republican party.
He is survived by his wife, Adrienne, at home; his children: Justice Medina and her husband Elliot, Robert D. Hoffer Jr. and his wife Bridgette, Jasmine Shoopman and Janelle Hoffer; 12 grandchildren; three sisters, Kathiann Rodgers and her husband Robert, Betty Jean Shay, and Marilou Hoffer; three brothers, A.J. Christiansen and his wife Sally, Warren Tice, and Freddy Tice; several nieces and nephews and brothers- and sisters-in-law. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Michael Hoffer Jr.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home, 34 Upper Main St., Callicoon, NY. A Firematic service will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 14, 2010 at St. James Episcopal Church, Route 17B, Callicoon with the Rev. Joan Laliberté officiating.
Burial will be made in the Callicoon Cemetery, Callicoon.

Lillian Mildred Norton, 99

Lillian Mildred Norton, 99, beloved mother, quietly passed away at her home in Nyack, NY, on October 8, 2010.
Lillian was born in Staten Island, NY, on July 5, 1911.  She was the daughter of Nils and Hedwig (Olsen) Nelson.
Lillian is survived by her son, Lee N. Norton, and daughters-in-law Mary Alice Norton of Ravena, NY, Marcia Norton of Grandview, NY, and Johanna Norton of Hallstadt, Germany;  seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles W. Norton; and sons Charles W. Norton Jr. and Donald B. Norton; and twelve siblings.
In memory of Lillian, an open house will be held at Lee and Mary Alice Norton’s home, 126 Biechman Road, Ravena on Saturday, October 16, 2010 from 1 to 5 p.m.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Lions Eye Bank at Albany, 6 Executive Park Drive, Albany, NY 12203.
