Walter F. Brown
Retired Training Administrator, PSE&G, 81

Walter F. Brown of Roscoe, formerly of Edgewater, NJ, and a longtime area resident, died Sunday, December 5, 2010 at Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. He was 81.
The son of the late Frederick and Florence Cutler Brown, he was born September 10, 1929 in Englewood, NJ.
Walter served our country in the U.S. Marine Corps at the end of World War II, and was recalled during the Korean War, attaining the rank of sergeant. He was a member of Westwood Masonic Lodge, and an avid sportsman who loved hunting, fishing, and the Catskills where he retired. He was a lineman, supervisor, and eventually training administrator for Public Service Electric and Gas, retiring in 1991 after almost 40 years.
He was a beloved husband of Tula Galvez Brown, at home; devoted father of Kathleen Perelli of Ft. Lee, NJ (and her husband Robert), Kurt Brown of Wanaque, NJ (and his wife Karen), and Kit Brown of Texas; grandfather of Justin Perelli of Teacneck, NJ (and his wfie Jennifer), Aaron Perelli of Ft. Lee, NJ (and his wife Catrin); great-grandfather of four boys; loving brother of Olive Peterson of Edgewater, NJ, David Brown of Lavalette, NJ (and his wife Bobbie) and Florence Pontillo of Cliffside Park, NJ.
Funeral services were held Thursday, December 9 at the Harris Funeral Home, Railroad Ave., Roscoe. The Rev. Robert Konvalin officiated.
He was cremated and his ashes will be strewn on his beloved waters of the Catskills and Hudson River, where he was raised, swam, raced canoes, and courted the girl he adored and married, his wife of 61 years.

John McMonagle
Retired Engineer, 91

John McMonagle of Jeffersonville, a retired engineer and longtime area resident, died Sunday, December 12, 2010 at his home. He was 91.
The son of Peter and Margaret McGettigan McMonagle, he was born September 29, 1919 in Ireland.
He was a member of St. George’s Church in Jeffersonville and the Jeffersonville Senior Citizens. He was a volunteer at the Town of Callicoon nutrition site for 17 years.
He is survived by five sons, Kevin McMonagle of Buffalo, Sean McMonagle of Jackson Heights, Brendan McMonagle of Farmingdale, Keith McMonagle of Levittown, and Patrick McMonagle of the Bronx; four sisters, Mae Coffey and Anne Cahlaghan of Ireland and Lena Sweeney and Frances Manson of Scotland; one brother, Peter McMonagle of Ireland; nine grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, December 14 at Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home in Jeffersonville.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 15 at St. George’s Church in Jeffersonville. Father Vu will officiate.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
