Suzanne Melicharek of Jeffersonville, NY, a retired office manager and an area resident since 1990, died Friday, January 9, 2009 at the Sullivan County Adult Care Center in Liberty, NY. She was 92.
The daughter of the late Martin and Elizabeth Ryba Melicharek, she was born December 11, 1916 in Manhattan.
She was a member of the Holy Trinity Slovak Church in New York City.
She is survived by one sister, Olga Cutler of Jeffersonville, NY; a sister-in-law, Verna Melicharek; and several nieces and nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by a brother, Martin Melicharek, and by a brother-in-law, William Cutler Sr.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at the Moravian Cemetery, 2205 Richmond Road, Staten Island, NY.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Trinity Slovak Lutheran Church, 334 East 20th St., New York, NY 10003 or to the Warthburg Foundation, Warthburg Place, Mt. Vernon, NY 10052.

Kenneth Mitterwager
Ret. NYS DOT Employee, 66
Kenneth Mitterwager of Callicoon, NY, a retired highway equipment operator for the New York State DOT, died Monday, January 12, 2009 at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale, Pa. He was 66.
The son of the late Louis and Eleanor Buddenhagen Mitterwager, he was born November 2, 1942 in Callicoon, NY.
He was the widower of Beverly Callahan Mitterwager.
In a family statement, it was said, “He was an avid outdoorsman and was a great father and grandfather.”
He is survived by one daughter, Jody Gilbert and her husband Paul of Bristol, Tenn.; two sons, Morgan Mitterwager of Callicoon, and Jason Mitterwager of Naples, Fla.; three grandchildren, Paul Gilbert, Jordan Gilbert, and Benjamin Mitterwager; five sisters, Gladys Houghtaling and her husband Verne of Callicoon, Lois Houghtaling of Prompton, Pa., Cheryl Porter and her husband Francis of Long Eddy, NY, Gail Peake of Long Eddy, and Karen Hubert and her husband Thomas of Fremont Center, NY; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Sylvia Mitterwager and Beverly Houghtaling.
Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, January 15, 2009 at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home, 34 Upper Main Street, Callicoon.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 16 at the Holy Cross Church, Route 97, Callicoon. Father Ignatius Smith,OFM, will officiate.
Cremation will be made at the convenience of the family.
