Shane C. Fuller, 39
Life long area resident

Shane C. Fuller of Damascus Pa., a life long resident of the area passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 18, 2009.
The son of Thomas C. Fuller and Patricia (Miller) Fuller, he was born December 28, 1969 in Monticello, N.Y. He was 39.
Shane was married to Victoria Hanson. They attended Beach Lake Free Methodist Church.
A family statement read, “Shane had a deep abiding love for and trust in the Lord Jesus. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing and a good cup of coffee. He was a fun loving family man who truly enjoyed spending time with his children.”
He is survived by his loving wife Victoria, a son Christian Shane and a daughter Abigail Shelby; his father Thomas C. Fuller and wife Linda J., his mother Patricia Fuller and longtime companion Joseph Pilny, two brothers Brett D. and Caleb T. Fuller, a sister Rebekah L. Hess and husband Dale, maternal grandparents John F. and Dorothy Miller, several nieces and nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents Vandergriff and Jessie Fuller.
Friends are invited to call on Sunday February 22, 2009 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday February 23, 2009 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Rasmussen Funeral Home 90 Main St. Narrowsburg.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday February 23, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Damascus, Pa.

Francine Zalkin Foster
First grade teacher, 55

Francine Zalkin Foster, a beloved first grade teacher, died Monday, February 16, 2009 in Grass Valley, CA after a long, courageous battle with cancer. She was 55.
The daughter of the late Harry Zalkin and Hattie Bodner Zalkin, she was born April 2, 1953 in Liberty, NY.
In addition to teaching, Francine wrote books on pest management for citrus fruit in central California. She climbed the highest point in 45 states, but her favorite place in the world was Switzerland where she would go three weeks at a time, trekking through the Alps. She was also a member of Hadassah and a board member with the Nevada County, CA Democratic Party.
She is survived by her husband, Mark Foster, at home; a brother, Big Max Zalkin of Tampa, FL; four sisters: Roberta Zalkin Yagerman of White Sulphur Springs, Linda Zalkin Komatsu of Tenafly, NJ, Jacqueline Zalkin Fliegner of Baltimore, MD and Amelia Pinky Zalkin of Ashville, NC; and several nieces & nephews.
Her funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 19, at 11 a.m. at the Congregation Ahavath Israel Synagogue, 39 Chestnut Street in Liberty with Rabbi Marvin Goldman officiating. Interment will follow at the Congregation Ahavath Israel Synagogue Cemetery, Hysana Road in Liberty.

Shirley L. Hartz

Shirley L. Hartz, 85, of Vestal, N.Y. died Saturday, February 14, 2009 in Debary, Fl. Born in Callicoon, N.Y. She was a retired Manager for the New York State Employment Service at Binghamton, N.Y. She is survived by her sister, Dorothy Peake of Lake Helen, Fl. and a niece Sharon P. Williamson, of Middletown, Ohio. Jacqueline Y. Wood, 83

Jacqueline Y. Wood, 83, passed away peacefully on Saturday February 14, 2009 at her winter home in Florida. Born a Swiss citizen in Mulhouse, France, on December 30, 1925, she and her family moved back to Switzerland in 1939.
After completing her schooling, she moved to Chiasso on the Swiss-Italian border, where she worked as a translator and met her future husband, James F. Wood, a U.S. Army soldier. She left Switzerland in December 1946 to marry her beloved and start a new adventure in life in Liberty, New York where she resided until 2001. Throughout life, she took great pride in her Swiss heritage.
Jackie cherished her family above all: sons Francis (Kathleen) Wood of Walton, James D. Wood of Albany and Stephen (Barbara) Wood of Kingston; daughters Mary Anne (Phillip) Bibbo of Guilderland, Nancy (Robert) Scaife of Delmar and Patricia (Hedy Lowenheim) Wood of Delmar; grandchildren Paul (Greta) Wood of Walton; Andrew Wood of Albany, Anna Scaife of Delmar and Nicole and Joseph Wood of Kingston; and great-grandchildren Ethan and Emma Wood of Walton. She is also survived by an extended network of relatives and friends, both in the U.S. and abroad. She is welcomed into heaven by a host of family and friends who predeceased her, including her beloved husband James, who died in 1989, her sisters, Trudy and Doris, and her brother Daniel.
While raising her family, she was also a federal employee and was active in numerous community organizations. After retirement, she moved to Albany to be closer to her family and became an active member of the Senior Citizen community. Jackie was a wonderful and giving woman who will be greatly missed by friends and family alike.
Jackie was fortunate to be active and healthy until her last day.
Calling hours will be Friday February 20 from 4-8 pm at McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen Street, Albany. Funeral services will be Saturday February 21 at St. Francis De Sales Church, 1 Maria Drive, Loudonville, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am. Internment will be at 1pm on Monday February 23 at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Liberty, NY.

Rosemary Butler
Homemaker, 78

Rosemary Butler, of Hankins, a homemaker, and 20-year-resident of the area, died on Wednesday, February 18, at Catskill Regional Medical Center, in Harris. She was 78.
Born to the late John and Rose Guido Healy, she was born on June 20, 1930, in Brooklyn, New York. She was the widow of John Butler.
Survivors include one daughter, Bonnie Schum, of Hankins; one son, Raymond Butler, of Staten Island; one brother, Clement Healy; her grandchildren, Tara Schum, Regina Coulter, Raymond Schum, Brigid Butler, and Maeve Butler; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a brother, Ralph Healy.
Friends may call on Friday, February 20, at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home, in Callicoon, from 2 to 5 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Church, in Callicoon, with Father Ignatius Smith OFM officiating.
Cremation will be at the convenience of the family.
