Joan Allison, a homemaker and a lifelong Liberty resident, passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2009 at her home. She was 78.
She was the daughter of the late Luther and Katherine Sullivan Dowe and was born on February 25, 1931 in Liberty. She was a member of St. Peter’s Church in Liberty.
A family statement reads “ Joan did it her way. She and her husband took great pride in their gardens.”
Survivors include her loving and devoted husband Harold Allison at home; a son, Lee Allison and his wife Joan of Parksville; a daughter, Linda Prince and her husband Donald of Liberty; two stepdaughters. Emily Ferring of Florida and Malissa Copeland of Tennessee; a brother, Luther Dowe of Ferndale; 11 grandchildren, Erin Gorr and her husband Mel of Liberty, Frank Poje and his wife Tara of Neversink, Michael Poje of Neversink, Terry Caruso of Florida, Sandra Misner of Florida, Rosemary Allison of CT, Anna and Lainie Ferring of Florida and Ricky, Matthew and Joshua Copeland of Tennessee; 9 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Ramsay’s Funeral Home, 275 S. Main St. Liberty on Tuesday, June 16, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
A Memorial Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday June 17, 2009 at 11:45 a.m. at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, 264 N. Main St., Liberty. Monsignor Edward Straub will officiate.
Burial will be at St. Peter’s Cemetery, Liberty, NY.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties, 800 Stony Brook, Newbrugh, NY 12550.

Annette G. Cecil Parish
Annette G. Cecil Parish, of Dublin, N.H., formerly of Rockville Centre and Malverne, NY died on June 10, 2009 in Keene, N.H.
Annette was the beloved wife of the late Leo J. Cecil and the late Dr. Albert Parish.
She was born in Detroit, MI on May 15, 1911, raised in Cleveland, OH and lived in Malverne and Rockville Centre, N.Y. from 1948 through 2004. In 2004, she moved to Dublin, N.H.
Active her whole life, she worked full time until she was 74. After she retired she became active in the Rockville Centre (NY) Senior Center, serving on the Executive Board and as Chair of the Membership Committee.
She leaves behind her son and his wife, Leo H. and Suzanne Cecil, of Monticello, NY; her daughter, Judith A. (Cecil) Napp of Dublin, N.H.; her grandchildren Michelle L. Knapp of Dublin, N.H., Kathi-Sue Cecil Rupp(Darryl) of Harker Heights, TX, Andrea Cecil Fichtl (Peter) of Wesley Chapel, Fla., and Leo H. Cecil, Jr. of Richmond, Va.; as well as her great-grandchildren, Terra Cecil, Danae Rupp, Darby Rupp, Cory Fichtl, and Matthew Fichtl.
Burial was Saturday, June 13, 2009 at Greenfield Cemetery, Hempstead, NY.
