Stanley Shalita

Stanley Shalita, formerly of Liberty, NY, died Tuesday, August 18, 2009 in Greenville, North Carolina, at the age of 66.
Born in Philadelphia, Stanley moved to Liberty with his parents at the age of 6 and spent his school years there. After graduating from the University of Pittsburgh, he became a police officer in Sullivan County, and later joined the U.S. Army Reserves, eventually relocating to South Florida.
Originally starting out as a civil engineer in Miami, Stanley later became a deputy sheriff for the Broward County Sheriff’s Office in Ft. Lauderdale, where he dedicated more than 30 years of service to them. After retiring in 2003, he moved with his wife and daughter to Greenville, North Carolina, to join family members there.
Stanley is predeceased by his father, Martin Shalita, and his mother, Fay Klass Shalita. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie, and their three children, David Shalita, of Chocowinity, NC, Amy Shalita, of Greenville, NC, and Martin Shalita, of Koblenz, Germany. He is also survived by two grandsons, Benjamin and Adam, as well as two aunts, an uncle and many cousins.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 21, at Evergreen Memorial Estates in Grifton, NC; 252-524-4192.
