Doris E. Schweighofer
Owner, M&D Citrus Groves, 84

Doris E. Schweighofer of Tyler Hill, Pa., and Ona, Fla., owner of M and D Citrus Groves, Ona, Fla., passed away on Sunday, Sept. 28, 2009 at home. The daughter of the late Walter Clayton and Evadne Burcher Blum, she was born August 2, 1925 in Wheeling, WV. She was 84.
Doris graduated from Commercial School and was excited to work for IBM in Newark, NJ. Doris was the widow of Miles N. Schweighofer who passed away on March 18, 1999. They were married for 52 years. Doris was a former member of Calkins Union Church, she was a member of Florida Citrus Regional, PFB Wayne Pike Farm Bureau. She won awards with Fashion Wagon Clothing. She loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, the farm life. She always was at her husband Miles’ side. They loved to travel and spend time together even if it was just in the fields. She will be greatly missed by her family. She was a special woman with a lot of energy.
Survivors include her three children: Jean Carter and her husband Fred of Rawling, NC, Sheila Bochicchio and her husband Carl York of Weaverville, NC, and Edward Schweighofer and his wife Marian of Tyler Hill, PA. Twin brother Donald Blum of Calkins, PA, and a sister, Pearl Highhouse of Damascus, PA. Eleven grandchildren: Jennifer and Jason Carter, Christopher, Jacob, Daniel and Carmen Bochicchio, Jessica, Buddy, Kim, Megan and Cassilyn. Three great-grandchildren, Jocelyn, Owen Myles and Violet; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is predeceased by her husband; a daughter, Karen Swendsen, who passed away in 1990; and her two sisters, Betty Sheard and Marjorie Robinholt.
Friends are invited to call on Tuesday, September 29, 2009 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, September 30, 2009 from noon to 1 p.m. at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 90 Main St., Narrowsburg, NY 12764.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2009 at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Lane Jones will officiate.
Cremation will take place at Maple Hill Crematory, Archbald, Pa., and burial of the cremains will be in Calkins Union Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
