Bogumila K. Koss
Dec. 21, 1941 - Nov. 23, 2009

Bogumila Kazimiera Koss, 67, of Manhattan, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, November 23, 2009 at 3:17 p.m., in the arms of her loving husband Jerzy Augustyn Koss, in their New York City home that they shared together for over 40 years.
Bogumila was the daughter of Regina Bilska and Maciej Bilski. She was born in Ostroleka, Poland on December 21, 1941 and immigrated to the United States of America in 1967. She lived in her beloved New York City since 1969. Bogumila and Jerzy were married on February 13, 1960 in Gdynia, Poland and would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on February 13, 2010 but Bogumila was taken away from us in a swift and peaceful manner to be with her Almighty Creator. She is survived by her husband, Jerzy A. Koss; her daughter Tomira Koss and husband Senad Mujanovic (of Sullivan County, NY); her son Wlodek Karol Koss and his wife Joey Elisa Koss; and 8 loving grandchildren who will forever love her and keep her in their hearts: Konrad S. Koss, Violetta M. Koss, Jonathan E. Koss, Jasmina A. Mujanovic, Adrian P. Koss, Ryszard E. T. Mujanovic, Sonia R. Koss, and Senada E. Mujanovic. Bogumila was predeceased by her brother Zdzislaw Bilski and her granddaughter Regina M. Koss. She is also survived by her younger sister, Elzbieta Szymankiewicz, her family in Germany, and numerous cousins and family members in Poland.
Bogumila Koss was an intelligent, educated woman who was ahead of her time. She was a scientist who did cancer research at Rockefeller University and Mount Sinai Hospital in NYC. From scientific endeavors, Bogumila went into the arts (she was part of the Koss Family Artists), and in the last 20+ years of her life created her own, incredibly innovative and revolutionary herbal creams, tinctures, and other alternative remedies. She was a strong believer in one’s destiny and a true believer in God and his power of healing and loving. She helped many, loved much, and never expected anything in return. Bogumila Koss will be missed by her adoring and loving husband, family, and all her friends. Our hearts will never be the same. Let her soul rest in peace, now and forever.
Friends are all invited to celebrate Bogumila K. Koss’ life with the family. Services will be held at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 856 Pacific Street, Brooklyn, NY 11238 (718-638-1071) on Saturday, November 28th 2009. Viewing will be the same day from 2 – 5 p.m. at St. Joseph’s followed by Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 5 p.m. by Rev. Msgr. Kieran E. Harrington, V.E.  Refreshments to follow.
