Mary Ann White of Cochecton, NY, entered into rest on Saturday, October 18, 2008 in Cochecton, NY. She was 66.
She was the creator of “Reilly’s” Ice Cream Store and Art Gallery in Cochecton, and was the author of “Reflections From Cochecton”.
The daughter of the late Howard and Tyyne Falkenberg Hermann, she was born August 21, 1942 in Callicoon, NY. She was the widow of Robert C. White.
Mary Ann was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Cochecton Men’s Club, the Cochecton Preservation Society, the Callicoon United Methodist Church, and the Hortonville Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include her sons, Robert and his wife, Marion of Manchester, Md., and Andrew and his companion, Irene Ward of Cochecton; six granddaughters: Jessica, Robin, Erin, Heather, Brittany and April White; two brothers, Henry Hermann of Callicoon and Howard Hermann of Loudon, Tenn.; three sisters: Helen Kohrs and her husband, John of Beach Lake, Pa., Joyce Brooks and her husband, Victor of Callicoon, and Jeanne McCullough and her husband, Ed of New Paltz; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Jeffrey White and granddaughter, Kerri-Jo White.
Friends may call on Tuesday, October 21, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home, 34 Upper Main St., Callicoon, NY, 845-887-4900.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 22, at Hortonville Presbyterian Church at 11 a.m. Cremation will be at the convenience of the family.

Edwin F. Gettel
Retired NYSEG Lineman, 73
Edwin F. Gettel, Jr. of Narrowsburg, NY, a lifelong resident of Sullivan County, died Saturday, October 18, 2008 at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale, PA. He was 73 years old.
The son of the late Edwin F. and Anna Pless Gettel, Sr., he was born July 2, 1935 in Bethel, NY.
Edwin was a retired Property Superintendent for the Boy Scouts of America. He was also retired from NYSEG. He was a life member of the Kauneonga Lake Fire Dept.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Elizabeth Caldwell Gettel; three sons: James of Missouri, Edwin F. III of North Carolina, and Bruce of Lava, NY; his sister, Doris Jones of Missouri; ten grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and three nieces. Edwin was predeceased by a daughter, Belinda-Jo.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Cremation will follow at the Maple Hill Crematory in Archbald, PA.
