Donald Frederick Hoffmann
Retired NYSDOT Engineer, 80
Donald Frederick Hoffmann of Hankins, a retired engineer for New York State DOT died Wednesday November 27, 2013 at Ellen Memorial Health Care Center in Honesdale, PA. He was 80.
The son of the late Charles J. and Freda Hoffmann, he was born January 28, 1933 in Callicoon.
Donald was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving during the Korean War. He was a Life Member of Allan Milk Post 7376 Veterans of Foreign Wars in Long Eddy, a past president of the Hankins Fire Department, a member of the Upper Delaware Ambulance Corps, and a member of Holy Cross Church in Callicoon.
Donald is survived by his children, Debbie Perzanowski of Hankins, Paul Hoffmann of Jeffersonville, and John Hoffmann of Milford, PA; a sister, Rita Eileen Ohman of Equinunk, PA; four grandchildren: Karen Deans, Chris Berner and his wife Michele, and Serena Perzanowski, all of Hankins, and Jimmie Hoffmann of Milford, PA; and one great-grandson, Charlie Berner. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by two brothers, Richard and Edwin Hoffmann.
A funeral mass was held Saturday, November 30 at St. Mary’s Church in Obernburg with Father Joseph Juracek officiating.
Burial was made in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Obernburg.

Catherine (Hall) McGlynn
September 20, 1933 - November 29, 2013
Catherine (Hall) McGlynn of Monticello, a retired office worker for Schmidt’s Wholesale in Monticello, died peacefully on Friday, November 29, 2013 at the Sullivan County Adult Care Center in Liberty. She was 80.
The daughter of the late John McGlynn and Agnes Weirich McGlynn, she was born September 20, 1933 in Carbondale, PA.
Catherine was a member of St. Peter’s Church, Monticello, the Monticello Senior Citizens, RSVP, a Primetimer, a volunteer at Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris, and was a charter member of the Monticello Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
She is survived by three daughters: Sandy, Cindy and Cathy (Coxe) McGlynn; daughters-in-law Karen, Donna and Anna; two sons: Sam Coxe and Jeffrey Cox, six grandchildren: Joshua, Nick, Danny, Kristin, Jeffery and Sarah; seven great-grandchildren Ryan, Jason, Kylie, Nate, Tyler, Cade, Connor; two sisters: Carol Ann Kaloney and Geri Ambrogio; one brother, Jimmy McGlynn; several nieces and nephews and their families including Joe Ambrogio, Tom and Toni Ambrogio, and Kevin and Lauren Ambrogio; and lifelong friend, Andrea Goldberg.
She is predeceased by siblings Joseph McGlynn and Margie Beck.
Her funeral service was held Sunday, December 1 at the VanInwegen-Kenny Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello.

Joan A. Rybak
Retired Teacher, 87
Joan Dean Rybak, daughter of the late Cecil and Louella Abraham of Damascus, PA, passed away November 28, 2013. She was 87. She was in hospice care briefly at Palm Harbor, Florida with pneumonia.
Joan was born October 6, 1926 in Binghamton, NY. She was a Cornell University graduate, and later worked as a Home Economics teacher and retired from the Callicoon school district.
She and her late husband, Arthur Rybak, resided most of their lives in Tyler Hill, PA and later in Tarpon Springs, FL. The previous two years Joan resided in Ozona, Florida in a house across the street from her daughter’s restaurant, Molly Goodhead’s. Joan enjoyed visiting with the guests and entertained them with her sharp humor.
Joan is survived by a daughter, Laurel Flowers, of Ozona, Florida. Joan’s son, Cecil Rybak, passed away in 2011. Joan has five grandchildren: Stuart Rybak, Miriam McCarthy, Joseph Rybak, Charity Cleary, and Brandi Flowers, and has nine great-grandchildren.
Viewing is to be held between the hours of 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Rasmussen’s Funeral Home in Narrowsburg on Tuesday, December 3.
Memorial service will be held at Rasmussen’s at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, December 4, 2013.
Graveside service will follow at 11:30 a.m. in Damascus Hillside Cemetery.

Louis Maudsley
Retired from SCDPW, 89
Louis Maudsley of Eldred, New York, passed away Friday, November 29, 2013 at his home. He was 89.
He was born on August 5, 1924 in Binghamton, New York, the son of the late Ellis and Edna A. Rauner Maudsley.
Louis was a retired Bridge Supervisor for the Sullivan County Dept. of Public Works, in Monticello. Lou was a very active member of the Eldred United Methodist Church in Eldred. He dedicated much of his time in helping to maintain the church.
He married Edith I. Rutledge Maudsley, who pre-deceased him in 1988.
He is survived by his son, Kevin Maudsley and his wife Karen of Lexington, Kentucky; his three daughters, Mary Huntington and her husband James of Eldred, Amy Benedict and her husband Jeril of Houston, Texas, and Bonnie Cohen and her husband Steven of Staten Island, NY; his sister, Doris Day of Honesdale, Penna.; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his sister, Elsie Hathaway.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 6 at 11 AM at the Eldred United Methodist Church, Eldred. Rev. Linda Bohs will officiate.
Interment will follow at Montoza Cemetery, Eldred.
