Mrs. Florence Louise Heins died peacefully on Christmas Day, 2013 at her home on Broadway in Monticello, surrounded by five generations of her family.
The daughter of the late Gustav L. and Emma Ross Schock of Meriden, CT, Florence was born in New York City on September 24, 1916. She was the widow of Alfred Heins Sr. (July 30, 1913-July 21, 1997) former owner of the Monticello Greenhouses and Florist on Broadway in Monticello. She worked there over seventy years maintaining the books and records, and planting seedlings side by side with her family.
Florence was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church of Monticello and was very committed to spending time with her family. She also spent summers with her family in her second home in Branford Connecticut where she enjoyed boating fishing and spending time at the beach.
Survivors include three daughters and one son, Doris Rogers of Bluffton, North Carolina, Grace Robinson of Monticello, Alfred Heins Jr of Monticello and Nancy Baxter of Jacksonville, Florida. She leaves behind nine grandchildren; Lisa Andryshak, Linda Jordan, John Rogers, Deborah Saunderson, the late Fred Robinson Jr, Laura Reynolds, Susan Baxter, Ashley Elwood, Kristen Kuthan, and Kayla Heins; ten great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Friends and family are invited to gather from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, December 27, 2013 at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at the Bloomingburg Rural Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made in honor of Florence Heins to The First Church of Monticello, Presbyterian, Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties, or to The National Audubon Society.
