George D. Neumann
Retired Comptroller, 92

George D. Neumann of Lancaster, Mass., formerly of Youngsville, NY, a retired comptroller for Yaun Company of Liberty, NY, died on Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at his residence after a brief illness. He was 92.
The son of the late Emil Otto Ernst and Ella Kate Bochmann Neumann, he was born March 8, 1916 in Germany.
George attended local schools, and upon relocating to the United States, graduated from Broadview High School in Broadview, Ill. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during World War II. George was employed with the Yaun Company in Liberty, NY, for more than 40 years, ultimately retiring as both Office Manager and Comptroller. He was a devout member and Elder of the Leominster Seventh-day Adventist Church, from where he passionately lived his faith and led by example. George and his late wife, Frieda, were active for many years in the church choir and faith activity. He was an avid and accomplished reader and took great pleasure in time spent with his loving family.
Survivors include a son, Lawrence G. Neumann and his wife, Nancy of Lancaster, Mass., with whom he lived; two daughters, Judith Gray and her husband, Craigan, of Ashland, KY, and Susan Kraycer and her husband, Edward, of Liberty, NY; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 65 years, Frieda Arendt Neumann, in 2002, and a grandson, Jason Kraycer, in 2007.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Nov. 30 at the Harris Funeral Home, West Street at Buckley, Liberty, NY. The Rev. Warren Ruff officiated.
Burial was made in the Greenhill Cemetery, Youngsville, NY.
Memorial contributions in his name may be made to Adventist Development and Relief Agency International, P.O. Box 4289, Silver Spring, MD 20914 or to the charity of one’s choice.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Harris Funeral Home; 845-292-0001 or 845-439-5200.

Frieda A. Unger, 75

Frieda A. Unger of Liberty, NY, passed away on Saturday, November 29, 2008, at the Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. She was 75.
The daughter of the late William and Margarete Ruhman Siegle, she was born February 11, 1933 in Amityville, NY.
She was the beloved wife of Lawrence “Larry” Unger and a Sullivan County resident since 1974. She met Larry while employed as a stenographer at the U.S. Air Force at Mitchell Field. She supported Larry as an Air Force wife for over 20 years.
An active member of the Order of the Eastern Star, she and Larry met many people throughout the state supporting this organization. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Liberty and she was employed for many years at Community General Hospital in Nurse Recruitment.
Survivors include her husband, Larry, at home; children, Alan and Cindy; brother, Bill and his wife, Marylee; grandchildren, and a host of family and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 3, at 10 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Liberty. The Order of the Eastern Star will have services at the church at 9:45 a.m. Burial will take place at Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery, Sunset Lake Rd., Liberty following funeral services.
