Mary A. Piliouras Spath
Retired Waitress & Bookkeeper, 89

Mary A. Piliouras Spath, a waitress, bookkeeper and homemaker, passed away on March 1, 2011 at Achieve Rehab and Nursing Center in Liberty. She was 89.
The daughter of the late Anathawasios and Catherine Piliouras, she was born January 25, 1921 in Birmingham, Alabama. She was the widow of Wayne E. Spath who passed away on April 8, 2007.
Mary was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Peekskill.
She is survived by her son, John W. Spath Sr. and his companion, Carolyn Brucher, of Jeffersonville; two grandchildren, John W. Spath Jr. and his wife Audra of Mileses and Jennifer Y. Clark and her husband, Gary, of Liberty; five great-grandchildren, Devon, Nicholas and Ashley Clark and Karlee and Kara Spath; four nephews, Thomas, George, Byron and John Piliouras.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was also predeceased by a brother, Memo Piliouras.
Friends may call from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 29, 2011 at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home, Jeffersonville. A memorial service and the Order of the Easter Star service will be held at that time.
Arrangements are by the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home, Jeffersonville, 845-492-4280.

Brother Joseph P. Pound, OFM
Franciscan, 91

Brother Joseph P. Pound, OFM, a Franciscan, died on Easter Sunday, April 24, 2011 at Holy Name Friary in Ringwood, New Jersey. He was 91.
Brother Joe spent 35 years at St. Joseph’s Seminary in Callicoon, working on the seminary farm. He was well-known and loved by the people of this area.
Born in Wood Ridge, New Jersey on August 21, 1919, he entered the Franciscan Order in 1941. When the seminary was sold to the Federal Government, he spent his remaining years caring for the sick friars in Ringwood, NJ.
A Funeral Mass for Brother Joe will be celebrated on Thursday, April 28 at St. Anthony’s R.C. Church in Butler, New Jersey.
