Arthur A. LeRoy Jr.
Ret’d. Super. of Bldgs. & Grounds, Granite Assocs., 73

Arthur A. LeRoy Jr. of Liberty, a retired superintendent of buildings and grounds for Granite Associates and a lifelong resident of the area, died Friday, January 21, 2011 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was 73.
The son of the late Arthur A. and Angeline Wagner LeRoy, he was born September 6, 1937 in Liberty.
Arthur served our country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. One of his most enjoyable hobbies was collecting model trains and building villages. He was an avid sports fan and had played major league baseball with the Milwaukee Braves, returning to Youngsville in the late 1960s.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon L. Rockwell LeRoy, at home; four daughters, Victoria Goddard and her husband Douglas of Narrowsburg, Kim LeRoy and her fiance Michael Kolbe of North Branch, Renee Franke and her husband Joseph of Youngsville, and Marie Ratner of Woodbourne; a step-daughter, Terra Morosky and her husband Stanley of Liberty; one brother, James LeRoy and his wife Carol of Liberty; his grandchildren, David, Amanda Jessica, Scott, Jared, Angela, and a step-grandchild, Tamara; a great-grandchild, Colleen; his mother-in-law, Mary Rockwell of Monticello; a brother-in-law, Frank Rockwell and his wife Janet of Arizona; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Roxy.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday, January 24 at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, Liberty with Monsignor Edward Straub officiating.
Memorial contributions in Arthur’s name may be made to the Orange-Sullivan Hospice, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550; Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, 1275 York Ave., New York, NY 10021; or to the Sullivan County SPCA, 25 Rock Hill Road, Rock Hill, NY 12775.

Stanley Lowenthal
Pharmacist, 80

Stanley Lowenthal of Monticello passed away on January 22, 2011 in Florida from pneumonia. He was 80.
Mr. Lowenthal, a pharmacist and a longtime owner of Spector’s Pharmacy in Monticello, is survived by Shirley, his wife of 57 years; his sister, Elaine Chesnin Csernelabics; his children, Mitchell and Ann Lowenthal of Brooklyn Heights, Lori Lowenthal, and Jerome Marcus of Philadelphia, Pa.; his grandchildren: Justin, Daniel, Jake, Helen and Celeste, all of whom loved him very much.
Funeral services were held Monday, January 24 at the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home, 388 Broadway, Monticello, NY.
Burial followed at the Landfield Avenue Synagogue Cemetery, Thompsonville Rd, Monticello. Rabbi Ben Zion Chanowitz officiated.

Jack Dunbar MacManus, 67
February 22, 1943 - January 24, 2011

The son of the late Robert and Evelyn Buckle MacManus, Jack was born February 22, 1943 in Manhattan, NY. Jack honorably served on active duty in the United States Marine Corps, from May 1960 to September 1964.
A loving father dedicated to his children, grandchildren and great-grandchild; Dad (Grandpa Jack) will forever be remembered and loved. Jack Dunbar MacManus died Monday, January 24, 2011. He was 67 years old.
Jack is survived by his three children, Kytt and his wife, Samantha, of Stormville, NY; Wyatt and his wife, Heidi, of Liberty, NY; Jayne and her husband, Paul, of Woodbourne, NY; his seven grandchildren, Jasmine, Jessica, Nicole, Alyssa, Vincent, Jack and Joseph; one great-granddaughter, Addison; his two sisters, Jean Plitt and her husband, Allan, of Bayport, NY; Beverly Cacioppo of Ketchikan, AK; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Besides his parents, Jack is predeceased by his brother, Brian MacManus.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2011 at 1 p.m. at the Bath National Cemetery at the Bath V.A.M.C, Bath, NY. Memorial donations in Mr. MacManus’ name may be made to the Bath V.A.M.C. to support a veteran, c/o Voluntary Services, Bath, NY 14810.
