Karin La Vecchia
October 26, 1928 – July 24, 2011

Karin La Vecchia, a 55-year resident of Monticello, passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2011. She was 82.
The daughter of Godber Jansen & Emma Nagel Jansen, she was born in Wyk auf Föhr, Germany on October 26, 1928.
Karin immigrated to the U.S. in 1955. As a self-employed daycare provider for over 35 years, she touched the lives of many children. She was affectionately known as “Aunt Karin.” Karin was a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend.
She was the widow of Louis J. La Vecchia, who predeceased her on March 11, 1992. She was also predeceased by a son, Bernard La Vecchia of Monticello, and a sister, Inge Schmidt of Germany.
Karin is survived by one son, Thomas and his wife Lorren La Vecchia, of Littleton, CO; three daughters: Beatrice and her husband Boyd “Bing” Billingsley of Moncks Corner, SC; Donna and her husband Scott Babitsky of South Bound Brook, NJ, and Karina La Vecchia of New York City; a daughter-in-law, Delia Cerisano of Monticello; seven grandchildren: Amanda La Vecchia, Joseph La Vecchia, Dean La Vecchia, Louis (LJ) La Vecchia, Karin Billingsley, Kaitlin Billingsley and Bernard Babitsky; one brother, Hans Jansen of Germany; two sisters, Eike Mario of Bedford, NH, and Enken and her husband, Jerry Mayer, of New York City; and a foster daughter, Tammy Watters of FL.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 29, 2011 from 1-3 p.m. & 7-9 p.m. at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 401 Broadway, Monticello.
Her funeral service will be Saturday, July 30, 2011 at 10 a.m. at the United Methodist Church of Monticello, 455 Broadway, Monticello.
Burial will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery on Rock Ridge Ave., Monticello.
