Lyal E. Van Vleet of Bradenton, Fla., passed away on Monday, October 17, 2011. She was 77.
Lyal moved from Liberty, NY, to the Bradenton area 16 years ago. She enjoyed reading, gardening and going on daily walks. She also enjoyed needlepoint and working on crafts with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters, Pamela (Scott) Sedlak and Kelly (Gregg) Cavaliere; sons, Wayne Van Vleet and Scott Van Vleet; siblings, Erna (Ed) Adams, June (Clifford) Danielson, John (Lorraine) Ebert, Marian (Earl) Myers and Roger Ebert; and grandchildren, Christopher Sedlak, Tara Sedlak, Gannon Sedlak, Julia Cavaliere, Carly Cavaliere, Brandon Van Vleet and Christian Cavaliere.
There will be a memorial service for Lyal, and her loving husband, Martin, who passed away on August 24, 2011, to be held on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at 10 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in White Sulphur Springs, NY.
The service will be followed by an inurnment at Laurel Hill Cemetery, White Sulphur Springs.

Jeffrey Ronald Highhouse, 47
February 19, 1964 - October 25, 2011
Mr. Jeffrey Ronald “Jeff” Highhouse, 47, died October 25, 2011 at Sebastian River Medical Center, Sebastian, Fla.
He was born in Callicoon, and lived in Sebastian for seven years, coming from his birthplace.
Jeff was a self-employed contractor working as a handyman on various construction projects.
He was an avid sportsman and a former New York State hunting and fishing guide.
He was a member of the Sebastian River Moose Lodge #1764 in Sebastian, and a graduate of Delaware Valley Central School in Callicoon.
Survivors include his parents, Ronald & Judith Highhouse of Callicoon; sister, Sarah Field and her husband, Bradley, of Colchester, CT; and nieces, Catherine and Allison Field.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice in memory of Jeffrey Highhouse.
A Celebration of Life is to be held at North Branch Methodist Church at 3 p.m. on Sunday, November 13, 2011. The Rev. Jim Moore will perform the service, followed by a gathering at the Hortonville Fire House.

Retired Office Manager, 83
Marie “Gert” J. Hunt of Monticello passed away on Tuesday, November 1, 2011 surrounded by her loving family at Achieve Rehab & Nursing Facility in Liberty, NY. She was 83.
The daughter of the late Clarence and Edith (Williams) Edwards, she was born on July 23, 1928 in Edison, NY. She was a lifelong resident of the area and raised her family here. Before her retirement, she worked as an office manager in several area doctor’s offices. She was a member of the ASPCA and adopted many animals over the years.
Marie is survived by her companion, John “Jack” Brunner of Liberty; her son, Douglas Frank and his wife Jennie of Pennsylvania; her daughters, Patricia Keator and husband Randy of Liberty, Cheryl Salerno of Liberty and Debra Frank of Walden, NY; and four grandchildren, Nicholas, Nicole, Douglas and Britney.
A private funeral service will be held by the family.

Gladys A. Kenyon, 66
March 3, 1945 - November 2, 2011
Gladys A. Kenyon (Butch), 66, of Equinunk, passed away on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at home with her family by her side. She was proceeded in death by her husband, Daniel A. Kenyon Sr.
Born March 3, 1945 in Honesdale, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Gladys Williams Brink.
Gladys was an avid Nascar fan. She always thought of others before herself. She loved her cat, “Mischief” and her dog, “Dozer.” She was a loving wife, mother, nana, and sister. She will be sadly missed by all that knew and loved her.
She is survived by her eight children: Lori and husband Rich Clark, Merri and husband Mike Neer, Susan and husband Kevin Saslo, Dawn and husband Michael Roloson, Daniel Kenyon Jr., Amy and husband Joe Niero, Harriet and husband Howard Highhouse, and Roger and wife Colleen Kenyon; her three sisters, Delvenia Smith, Patricia Schillinger, and Beth Carney; four brothers, Benjamin Brink, Franklin Brink, Robert Brink, and Randy Brink; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. She was the most wonderful Nana to 19 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Gary P. Brink.
Friends may visit Monday, November 7, 2011 from 5-8 p.m. at Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St., Honesdale, Pa.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Darlene Miller officiating. Interment will follow in the Braman Cemetery, Manchester Twp.

Donald E. Clark
Ret. Bethel Building Inspector, 71
Donald E. Clark, a lifelong resident of Bethel, passed away at his home on Monday, October 31, 2011. He was 71.
The son of the late Lester and Roseanna Gabriel Clark, he was born February 11, 1940 in Bethel.
Donald was the retired Building Inspector of the Town of Bethel. He was a member of the Kauneonga Lake Fire Department, the Bethel Lions Club, and he participated in various community projects. He was also a former Constable for the Town of Bethel.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Rose Clark, at home; daughters, Adella Boxberger and her husband Carl of Durham, NC, and Cindy George and her husband A.J. of Sterling, Va.; granddaughter, Christina Boxberger; and several nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Walter and Robert, preceded him in death.
Friends may call Friday, November 4, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Ramsay’s Funeral Home, 3534 Route 55, Kauneonga Lake, NY.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, November 5, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Route 17B, Bethel.
