Donald C. Labolt
Retired from Sullivan West CSD, 69

Donald C. “Don” Labolt of Jefferson Township, PA, died Saturday at his home following an illness. His wife is the former Iline Spangenburg. He was 69.
Born December 5, 1942 in Middletown, NY, he was the son of the late George and Cecilia Labolt. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by the Sullivan West School District in Jeffersonville, NY. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three daughters: Angie Labolt of Middletown, NY, Iline Labolt of Jeffersonville, and Lisa Labolt of Middletown; one son: Donald Labolt of Waymart, PA; five step-sons: Leo Kratz of Harpursville, NY, Willis Kratz of Belford, NJ, Charles Kratz of Apollo Beach, FL, and Frank Kratz of Cochecton, NY; and several grandchildren.
Interment: Sunlight Crematory - Hanover Township, PA
A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.

Paul J. Devoe, 84
April 8, 1928 - August 6, 2012

Paul J. Devoe, a lifelong resident of Livingston Manor, passed away at home with his family and wife of 35 years, Minnie, by his side on Monday, August 6, 2012.
He was the son of the late Edith Davenport, born on April 8, 1928 in Grooville, NY. He was 84.
Paul proudly served our country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict before coming home to start his family. When he returned home he took over the family dairy farm. For over 20 years he worked for New York State including Livingston Manor Central School District, the construction of Mongaup State Pond and Campgrounds and the DeBruce State Fish Hatchery.
Paul and his wife, Minnie, raised their combined family in an eight bedroom farmhouse handed down from Grandma Edie. The doors were always open and all were welcomed. You were never a stranger for long. Anyone in the house at dinner time sat down with the family for a meal, stories and laughter.
Paul, a man who touched the lives of many, and was loved by all. He was always there to lend a helping hand, never turning anyone away. He always had a story to tell, a wonderful sense of humor, and a wealth of knowledge. He will be greatly missed by all.
He is survived by his wife, Minnie Devoe, of Livingston Manor; his former wife, Josephine Kurpil Devoe; his sister, Rita Devoe Fontana; five daughters: Jeannie Devoe, Mary Hankins and her husband, Richard, Caroline Devoe, Rita Manell and her husband, Jim, and Beth Cronk and her husband, Tom; and one son, Richard Devoe, all of Livingston Manor; three stepdaughters: Pat Steele and her husband, Randy, Susan Davenport, and Mary Beth Davenport and her husband, Bill Sarles, and two stepsons, David Misner, and Michael Misner and his wife, Candy; his 19 grandchildren: Joy Martin, Adam and Jared Bivens, Jenifer and Nigel Cronk, Caroline Beckett, Michelle Brink, Alana McGinnis, Connor Manell, Ryan Mead, Nicole and Brian Westbrook, David Misner, Angel Quiles, Sylvia Aponte, Anna, Michael, Erica and Suzanne Misner; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his sister, Caroline Devoe Sedelmeyer, and her husband, Charles Sedelmeyer; his brother, Melvin Devoe; his brother-in-law and best friend, Charles Fontana.
A funeral service was held Thursday, August 9 at the Herbert C. Bryant Funeral Home, 29 Pearl Street, Livingston Manor.

Gerald R. Walrod, 82
May 12, 1930–August 7, 2012

Gerald R. (Jerry) Walrod of Livingston Manor passed away on Tuesday, August 7, 2012, at Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. He was 82.
Born on May 12, 1930, in Toledo, OH, he was the son of the late Raymond and Edith (Sweet) Walrod.
Jerry was a proud Navy veteran, a past commander of AMVETS Post #45 of Buffalo, NY, and the co-founder of AMVETS Post #911 of Port Orange, FL. He was the personnel director at Falconer Glass in Jamestown, NY, and managed an apartment complex in Port Orange, FL, before retiring in 1992. He moved to Sullivan County in 2011 to be closer to his son Brad, and very much enjoyed the area and the many friends he made here.
Survivors include two sisters, Margaret Brandt, of Ball Ground, GA, and Helen Pischera, of Lawrenceville, GA; a brother, Dennis, of Lakewood, NY; two sons, Brad, of Kenoza Lake, and Bruce, of Memphis, TN; a stepson, Jeff Hilt, of Marco Island, FL; a stepdaughter, Diane Hilt, of Port Orange, FL; and a grandson, Scott Hilt, of Port Orange, FL. Jerry was predeceased by his wife, Carol (Anderson) Walrod, in 1999; a sister, Doris Ford; a brother, Richard; and a stepson, David Hilt.
Friends will gather informally to celebrate his life at a date, time, and location to be decided.

Gladys M. Duttweiler, 93
December 14, 1918 - August 7, 2012

Gladys M. Duttweiler of Jeffersonville, NY, a homemaker and lifetime area resident, died Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at Sullivan County Adult Care Center in Liberty, NY. She was 93.
The daughter of Charles Frederick and Lenora Bollenbach Jacobs, she was born December 14, 1918 in Youngsville, NY. She was the widow of Russell E. Duttweiler who died July 2, 2007.
She was a member of Jeffersonville Presbyterian Church, the Women's Association of the church and the church choir.
She is survived by two daughters, Carol Fisher and her husband, Daniel, of Jeffersonville, and Barbara Rockwell and her husband, George, of Cody, WY; one son, Michael Duttweiler and his wife, Linda, of Ithaca, NY; a sister, Grace Weigand of Briscoe, NY; five grandchildren: Craig Fisher, Kristin Ashworth-Fanch, John Fanch, Christian Duttweiler and Katrina Duttweiler Waxman; eight great-grandchildren: Caleb Fanch, Courtney Fanch, Dimitri Ashworth-Fanch, Skye Ashworth-Fanch, Maxwell Fisher, Ella Fisher and Abigail Jane Waxman; and six nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Russell E. Duttweiler, she was predeceased by a sister, Edith Mackenzie, and a brother, Howard F. “Bud” Jacobs.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, August 10, 2012 at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home, Jeffersonville, NY.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 11 at the funeral home with Ginny Bossley officiating.
Burial will be in the Jeffersonville Presbyterian Cemetery.
