William T. Golden of Liberty, NY, a retired counter salesman for Liberty Lumber, Liberty, NY and a long time area resident, died Friday, November 30, 2012 at his home. He was 71.
The son of the late William R. and Catherine Gillen Golden, he was born May 8, 1941 in Brooklyn, NY.
William was a communicant of St. George’s Roman Catholic Church and a former member of the church choir; he was an avid bowler; and he was a carrier for homing pigeons.
Survivors include his wife, Dolores C. Eichner Golden, at home; four daughters, Deborah Votee and her companion Miriam Feliciano of Youngsville, NY, Maureen Johnson and her husband James of Liberty, NY, Jeanne Melchick and her husband John of Youngsville, NY, and Michele Lewis and her husband Jim of Muskegon, MI; one son, Thomas Votee of Liberty, NY; one brother, Richard Golden and his wife Michela of Pinebrook, NJ; four sisters, Katherine Panacrese of New Rochelle, NY, Mary Socci and her husband Michael of Kearny, NJ, Barbara McGinn and her husband George of Holbrook, NY, and Jane Hauser of Bronx, NY; his grandchildren, Daniel, JR, Devin, Andrew, John, Austin, Miriam, Ryan, Cody, Brett, and Keather; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers, James and John.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at 11 a.m. in St. Francis Roman Catholic Church in Youngsville, NY.
Private burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Youngsville, NY.

Retired U.S. Postal Service Clerk, 77
Jean Sprague of Livingston Manor, NY, a retired clerk for the U.S. Post Office in Jeffersonville, NY, and a lifelong area resident, died Friday, November 30, 2012 at her home. She was 77.
The daughter of the late John and Helen Ackerley Conklin, she was born November 9, 1935 in Margaretville, NY.
Jean had attended the United Methodist Church of White Sulphur Springs, NY. She loved and enjoyed all of her family and friends and they shared the same feelings with her.
Survivors include two daughters, Teri Josephs and her husband Wayne of South Fallsburg, NY, and Tracey Sprague and her companion Scott Harden of Auburn, NY; two grandchildren, Amanda Josephs and Jared Josephs; several nieces and nephews, and two granddogs and a grandcat.
She was predeceased by one sister, Doris Conklin.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at 1 p.m. in the Harris Funeral Home, West St. at Buckley, Liberty, NY. The Rev. Bridgette LeConey will officiate.

Linda J. Dirie of Youngsville, NY, a lifelong area resident, died Sunday, December 2, 2012 at the Roscoe Rehab & Nursing Center, Roscoe, NY, after a long illness. She was 61.
The daughter of Betty Kehrley Jacobs Kohler and the late Howard Jacobs, she was born June 1, 1951 in Liberty, NY. She was married to Clyde Dirie.
Linda was a member of the United Reformed Church of Youngsville, and was a longtime Youngsville correspondent for the Sullivan County Democrat.
A family statement reads, “Linda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.”
She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Clyde Dirie, at home; her son, Matthew Dirie and his wife, Amanda, of Jeffersonville, NY; her daughter, Andrea Roemer of Fosterdale, NY; her mother, Betty Kehrley Jacobs Kohler and her husband, Walter, of Youngsville; two sisters, Debra McGibbon and her husband, Sherwood, of Youngsville and Cindy Snedecker and her husband, Bruce, of Kenoza Lake, NY; three grandchildren: Cheyanne, Landon and James; and four nieces and nephews: Amber, Jonathan, Kevin and Brandy.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home, Jeffersonville, NY.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at the funeral home, with Virginia Bossley officiating.
Burial will be made in the Presbyterian Cemetery in Youngsville.

Margit Adamic Ermilio, 92
July 18, 1920 - November 29, 2012
Margit Adamic Ermilio passed away on Thursday, November 29, 2012 in the comfort of her home, in Freehold, New Jersey.
The daughter of Jann and Eckaterina Adamic, she was born on July 18, 1920, the second of seven children. She was 92 years old.
Margit was born in the former Republic of Czechoslovakia, and emigrated to the United States in 1924. She grew up in Coaldale, Pennslyvania. She moved to New York City toward the end of the Great Depression, and met the love of her life, Samuel J. Ermilio, whom she married on January 31, 1942. He predeceased her on April 29, 1996, after 54 years of marriage.
Her kitchen was the center of her life and her home, and her “gravy,” meatballs, homemade pasta and kiefle Christmas cookies were delicious, and beyond compare.
She is survived by two sisters, Katherine Weldon of Grass Valley, California, and Irene Hrebik of Allentown, Pennslyvania, and by her children, Patricia A. Caplanson (Constantino) of Freehold, NJ, Joseph J. Ermilio (Bonnie), of Waretown, NJ, and Jean Marie Druse (Tom) of Rock Hill, NY. She is further survived by five grandchildren, Ann Marie Earle, John R. Fratianni III, Shere Dawn Ermilio, Brett Scott Ermilio, and Kristen Katherine Druse, and by nine great-grandchildren.
We love you, “Ma,” and know you and Pop are dancing together again to Sinatra on the hi-fi!

Jean L. Hoffman, a lifelong resident of North Branch, NY, entered into eternal rest on December 1, 2012 at Catskill Regional Medical Center. She was 69.
Jean was born March 13, 1943 to the late Izzy and Leona Hartman of North Branch. Jean was predeceased by her loving husband, Frederick Hoffman, and her son, Charles Dutkiewicz.
Jean is survived by her sisters, Kathy and husband Raymond of Long Island, NY, and Dorothy and husband Mike of Utica, NY; and one brother, Edward Gross of Long Island, son Robert Gross and wife Ethel of Callicoon, NY, and daughter Linda VanLoan of Liberty, NY; twelve grandchildren: Scott, Andrew and wife Catherine, Robert, Marquis, Krystal and fiancé Richard, Brandon, Kyle, Shaquon, Christina, Joseph, Brandon and Brian; eleven great-grandchildren: Michael, Terry, Gabriell, Selena, Miracle, Raven, Trinity, Blake, Brianna, Isaiah, and Nevaeh; and many other nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends.
Jean was a strong woman who had a rough life, she also had a heart of gold. If you needed it and she had it, she would give it to you. She loved to shop, play Bingo, and have a good time. Jean will be sadly missed every day. But never forgotten.

Timothy d. Stoddard
Formerly of Liberty, NY
Timothy d. Stoddard passed away Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at home in Oceanport, NJ.
Mr. Stoddard is survived by his four children: Mark Stoddard and wife Kim, Christopher Shawn Stoddard and wife Janet, Kevin Stoddard and wife Lisa, and Stephanie Guttesman and husband Marc. He also leaves behind nine grandchildren, his sister Rosemary Walsh of Middlesex, NJ, his brother William Stoddard of Liberty, NY, and nine nieces and nephews.
Timothy served honorably as an officer in the United States Army for over 29 years. He earned superior recognition and received the bronze star with valor, among other notable military decorations.
Timothy spent many months of his retiring years, working with his two sons’ company, Anthony’s Catering of North Florida, helping them by using his artistic talents.
Timothy continues to support his childhood Catholic Church, St. Peter’s of Liberty, NY, to carry on their good work for the community.
Timothy d. Stoddard will be laid to rest in Liberty, New York. His Memorial service will be held at St. Peter’s Church at a future date to be determined.
