Elsie Katherine Sgueglia
March 31, 1931 - February 16, 2012

Elsie Katherine Sgueglia, 80, of North Branch, New York, a homemaker and lifetime resident died Thursday, February 16, 2012 at CRMC Harris, New York.
The daughter of the late Harry and Catherine Gilbert, she was born March 31, 1931 in Hortonville, N.Y. Elsie was the widow of Vincent Sgueglia.
A family statement reads: “Elsie was a beloved Mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt. Her love will remain with us always. Her loving smile, her kindness and her strength will be greatly missed.”
Survivors include four daughters: Carol Mixon and husband, Terry; Pam Pfeil and husband, Tony; Donna Gilbert, and Lorraine Ronchi; four sons: Edward Roemer and wife, Marie; Charle Roemer and wife, Mary; Robert Roemer and wife, Carole; and Thomas Gilbert; grandchildren: Mike and wife, Angie; Patricia and husband, Edward; Billy, Sheila, Harold, Tara and Jimmy; great-grandchildren: Katelynn, Alexis, Josephine, Christopher, Victoria, Emilee, Larry, Colin, Matthew, Harold, Marissa, Kayla, Patrick, Lisa, John, Jean, Jane, Debbie, Denise, Dawn, Charles and Susan; two brothers: Harry Gilbert and Charles Gilbert and wife, Norma; three sisters: Shirley Taylor, Caroline Echevarria, Anna Yusko and husband, John; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her loving husband, Vincent, she was predeceased by her daughters Patricia, Barbara, Linda and Joan, and by her brother, William.
Funeral services were held on Monday, February 20, at Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home, 34 Upper Main Street, Callicoon. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery, Damascus, Pa.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association, American Cancer Society, or to the Heart Association.

Iva S. Clark
February 5, 1948 – February 15, 2012

Iva S. Clark, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 after a long courageous battle with emphysema, surrounded by her loving family. She had just celebrated her 64th birthday. The daughter of the late Edwin Seeley and Amelia Avery Seeley, she was born on February 5, 1948.
Iva was raised in Forestburgh and spent her summers in Rock Hill, New York and her winters in Naples, Florida. She was a secretary for her husband’s landscaping business, Park Island Nursery, which did the landscaping for the IBM plants and many other large companies, until she and her husband retired.
A family statement reads, “If Iva taught us nothing else in life she taught us the importance and the strength of family. The love she had for her family and the strength that it gave her is what kept her strong for all of these years while she fought her sickness.”
She is survived by her husband of 41 loving years, Arthur O. Clark; her daughter and son-in-law, Tiffany and Gregg Pitula of Rock Hill; a step daughter, Ellen Widelitz of Grahamsville; two ex-son-in-laws, Alan Petrowsky of Rock Hill, and Michael Jahn of Monticello; her beloved grandchildren MaKayla Jahn, Christopher Pitula, Alexis Petrowsky Romero and her husband Jason Romero, Noah Petrowsky, and Jeremy Clark; a great granddaughter, Stephanie Clark; and she was awaiting the arrival of her great grandson, Colt Romero, who is due in May, as well as, several people who were like family to her.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Harold and Robert Seeley, a grandson, Ryan Petrowsky, and two step sons Arthur and Gregory Clark.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, February 18, 2012, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home in Monticello. Her funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 19, 2012, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Glen Wild Cemetery.

Anne M. Estroff
Legal Secretary

Anne M. Estroff passed away peacefully on February 19, 2012 at the age of 61 in her Kerhonkson, NY home, after courageously battling breast cancer for 12 long years.
Anne, daughter of the late Josephine and Albert Meyer, born in Callicoon, NY, grew up in Mileses, NY, and moved to Kerhonkson in 1968. She graduated from Ulster County Community College, began her career as a legal secretary (holding that position for 41 years), and married Dave of Kingston, NY in 1971. Over the years she was Chairperson of the Town of Rochester Planning Board and an active member of the Friends of Historic Rochester and was instrumental in fostering membership growth and securing the community Museum/Library.
She loved spending time with family and friends, vacationing in Florida, caring for her flowers, cruising with Dave in their ’66 GTO, reading, and baking sweets for her kids.
She is survived by her loving husband, Dave Estroff, her 2 children, Sharon (husband Stefan) of Wawarsing, NY, and Andy (wife Amy) of Yardley, PA; her 2 grandchildren, Caleb (son of Sharon and Stefan) and Colin (son of Andy and Amy); and her 4 siblings, Carl of Bethel, NY, Rita (husband Jeremiah) of Damascus, PA, Marilyn (husband Bob) of Bloomingburg, NY, and Claire (husband Frank) of Melville, NY.
All who were touched by Anne are invited to share in the celebration of her life on Wednesday, February 22 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the H.B. Humiston Funeral Home, 30 Forty Second St., Kerhonkson, NY 12446. The Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday at 10 am at Our Lady Of Lourdes Church, Route 209, Kerhonkson, NY. Interment will follow in the Whitfield Cemetery, Accord, NY.

Frederick ‘Fred’ J. Vassmer
Retired Operator, Vassmer’s General Store

Frederick “ Fred” J. Vassmer, 92, died on Sunday February 19, 2012 at Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris, NY.
Fred was born on May 26, 1919 in Kauneonga Lake, NY to the late John H. Vassmer and Marie Mueller Vassmer.
He retired from Vassmer’s General Store in Kauneonga Lake, where he was store operator and butcher. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Kauneonga Lake. A World War II Army Veteran, he was commander and member of Sgt. Andrew Brucher VFW Post #5499 and the Kelly Ratner Post 198 DAV of Sullivan County. Fred was a 70-year member of the Kauneonga Lake Fire Dept. and a former member of the White Lake School Board.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Catherine Kelly Vassmer at home; son, John F. Vassmer and wife Sharon of Ogdensburg, NY; daughter, Trudy Buchler and husband Bill of Owego, NY; four grandchildren, Nathan and Emma Vassmer, Jesse and Sean Buchler; sister-in-law, Marion Vassmer of Kauneonga Lake, NY; nieces, Linda Vassmer of Kauneonga Lake and Vicky Vassmer Simpson and husband Steve of Kauneonga Lake; three great-nieces, Amanda Jackson, Heather and Kayla Brown; two great-great-nephews Aden Stanton and Ian Jackson. Fred was predeceased by two brothers, Arthur and Bernhardt Vassmer.
Visiting hours will be on Wednesday February 22 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Ramsay’s Funeral Home, 3534 Route 55, Kauneonga Lake. Kauneonga Lake Fire Dept will hold services at the funeral home at 7:30 PM and VFW services will be at 7:45 PM.
Funeral services will be held at Ramsay’s Funeral Home on Thursday Feb. 23 at 11 AM will Rev. Randolph Yerkes officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Bethel, NY.
