Jerome Irving Kreiger, 89

Jerome Irving Krieger, of Boynton Beach, FL, and Woodridge, NY, age 89, passed away on January 25, 2012.
Funeral services were held at the Congregation Ohav Shalom Cemetery in Glen Wild, NY, on January 27, 2012. He fought Parkinson’s disease courageously for the last eight years. He was a man known for his outward strength and toughness as well as his inner compassion.
He was born in the Bronx, NY, on March 20, 1922. He grew up in Woodridge, NY from the age of two. He married his childhood sweetheart, Naomi Levitz in 1943. Irving was a Chevrolet and Oldsmobile dealer for fifty years. He was also the owner of Krieger Body Company, a truck equipment company. He was a WWII veteran, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He served in five battle campaigns.
He was a lifetime member of the Woodridge Fire Department, a Village of Woodridge Trustee, and volunteered for variety of community organizations in his hometown of Woodridge. He had homes in Woodridge and Sun City West, Arizona, where he was able to play golf in summer and winter, a sport he enjoyed so much.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-nine years, Naomi; his son Robert and (Ilyse) of Boca Raton, Fl and his son Neil, of Smyrna, Georgia; his grandchildren, Douglas and (Kelly) of San Antonio, Texas and a granddaughter Pamela of Alexandria, VA; three great-grandchildren, Kaitlin, Olivia, and Chelsea; three brothers Seymour Krieger (Ruth), Harvey Krieger (Eileen) and Rivan Krieger.
He was predeceased by his parents, William and Fay Krieger.

Gerry Foss
“Gerry” Foss, daughter of the late Emil Wells and Isabelle Dolson Wells, entered into eternal rest on January 21, 2012, surrounded by her family.
Gerry was born in White Lake, NY, and resided in Rock Hill for many years before retiring to Zephyrhills, FL.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Gilbert Foss, of Zephyrhills; her sons, James and wife Marie of Zephyrhills, Darrel and wife Sharon of Hernando Beach, FL, Larry and wife Susan of Hobe Sound, FL; daughter Darlene Newman and husband Steve of Zephyrhills; her loving grandchildren, Travis, Ryan, Christian, Adam, Tyler, Casey and Shanna; and great grandchildren, Dustin and Deara, Salem and Arwin, Christian and Devin, Kyle and Conner, Jonathan and Matthew, Gabriel and Ava. She was predeceased by her brother, Berkley Wells; grandsons Darren and Brian; and granddaughter, Joey.
A celebration of Gerry’s life will be held at the convenience of the family.

Richard E. Shea
Retired Engineering Asst., 81
Richard E. “Dick” Shea of Beaverkill, NY, a retired engineering assistant for Burroughs Corp. in New Jersey, and a longtime area resident, died Sunday, January 29, 2012 at Achieve Rehab. and Nursing Facility, Liberty, NY. He was 81.
The son of the late Joseph M. and Anna Remmelman Shea, he was born November 8, 1930 in Teaneck, NJ.
Dick was the youngest of three siblings. After graduation from Dwight Morrow HS in Englewood, in which Dick excelled in football, basketball and track, he attended the Kents Hill Prep School in Maine and later attended the University of New Hampshire before serving in the U.S. Coast Guard. He married Sara Sharpless in 1956 and the couple moved to New Milford, NJ, as Dick began a career in quality control for Burroughs Corporation. In 1961 the couple and their oldest son Rick moved to Basking Ridge, NJ. They settled there and raised two more children, Laura and Tom, until retirement in 1999, when the couple moved to Beaverkill.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Sara “Sally” Shea, at home; two sons, Rick Shea and Tom Shea; one daughter, Laura Shea; and one sister, Patricia Enger and her husband Halvar; five grandchildren, Lee, Dan, Katy, Tom, and Mary; three nieces, Kathy Florchinger, Wendy Florchinger, and Sue Enger; one nephew, Steven Enger; and his brothers-in-law, Dick Florchinger and Carl Bonin.
He was predeceased by one sister, Joan Florchinger.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 31, 2012 from 4-7 p.m. in the Harris Funeral Home, Railroad Ave., Roscoe, NY.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Gate of Heaven Church, Highland Ave., Roscoe, NY. Father Francis Conka will officiate.
Burial will be in the Beaverkill Cemetery, Beaverkill, NY, in the Spring.
