John H. Eschenberg

John H. Eschenberg of Callicoon, NY, the owner of John H. Eschenberg Lawn & Garden Equipment for over 60 years, died Friday, June 29, 2012 at his home. He was 91.
The son of John and Anna Thomas Eschenberg, he was born August 17, 1920 in New York City. He was married to the late Betty Boyd Eschenberg, who died in 2008.
He was a member of the Delaware Council No. 4478 Knights of Columbus, and Holy Cross Church of Callicoon. He served as Highway Superintendent and Supervisor for the Town of Delaware for many years. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He is survived by five sons, John Eschenberg and his wife, Kathleen, of Port Jervis, NY, Dennis Eschenberg and his wife, Kim, Steven Eschenberg and his wife, Nancy, William Eschenberg and his wife, Cathy, and Michael Eschenberg and his wife, Linda, all of Callicoon; two daughters, Anna Mullenski and her husband, Christopher, of Raleigh, NC and Christine Coan and her husband, Andrew, of Chadds Ford, PA; 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Elizabeth Newman.
There are no calling hours.
A Memorial Mass will be held Wednesday, July 4, 2012 at Holy Cross Church, Callicoon at 10 a.m. with Father Ignatius Smith, OFM, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Cross Church, P.O. Box 246, Callicoon, NY 12723 or to Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties, 800 Stonybrook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550.

Evelyn Schick of Obernburg, NY, a secretary at Mike Preis Insurance Company in Callicoon and a lifelong area resident, died Friday, June 29, 2012 at Roscoe Regional Rehab Center, Roscoe, NY. She was 78.
The daughter of Theodore and Margaret Yaeger Specht, she was born June 13, 1934 in Roscoe.
Evelyn was married to Albert J. Schick.
She was a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church and the Rosary Society of the Church, in Obernburg, and the Callicoon Senior Citizens.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Albert J. Schick, at Roscoe Regional Rehab Center; her daughter-in-law, Deborah Schick of Obernburg; her grandchildren: John Schick, Heidi Schick and Eric Schick; her cousin, Eugene Hahn of Jeffersonville, NY; and her half-brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Specht. She was predeceased by her son, Thomas Schick, and by a sister, Dot Fuller.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 3 at St. Mary's Church in Obernburg, with Father Joseph Jeracek, OFM, officiating.
Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Obernburg.
