Francis D. McCoy Sr.
Retired Correction Officer, 86
Francis “Frank” D. McCoy Sr., a retired Correction Officer for the NYS Department of Corrections in Woodbourne, NY, passed away in Liberty on Thursday May 31, 2012 at the age of 86.
The son of the late Thomas A. McCoy and Margaret Hotchkin McCoy, he was born on July 10, 1925 in the Bronx.
Frank proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, and was a member of the 449th Bomb Group and served as a tail gunner on the B-24 bomber (the Liberator). He flew 50 missions over Europe and was awarded the Purple Heart, Air Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was very proud of his service to his country and often spoke of his experiences.
He loved to spend time at his winter home in Naples, FL, and enjoyed the company of countless friends. His interests included hunting, fishing and gardening. He was a charter member of the Aden Hunting Club and the Liberty VFW Post #9217.
He was predeceased by his loving wife of 57 years, Jean Ann Groll McCoy, who passed away in March 2005, and his infant daughter, Marybeth McCoy. A brother Thomas McCoy and two sisters, Rosemary O’Donnell and Helen Kenney, also predeceased him.
Survivors include his son, Francis (Frank) D. McCoy Jr. and his wife Carole of Liberty; two grandsons, Timothy S. McCoy and his fiancée Terry of Hurleyville and Christopher M. McCoy of Liberty; two great-grandchildren, Lindsay N. McCoy and Aden J. McCoy, of Neversink; his sister, Patricia McCoy of Liberty; sisters-in-law, Arlene McCoy and Marian Dirscherl; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, June 4 at 11:45 a.m. at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church in Liberty.
Burial was made in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Cold Spring Rd., Liberty.
Memorial contributions may be made in Frank’s memory to St. Peter’s Church, 264 N. Main St., Liberty 12754.

Marjory D. Glassel
Stock Clerk, 82
Marjory D. Glassel of Beechwoods, Callicoon, NY, a lifetime resident of the area, died June 3, 2012 at her home. She was 82.
The daughter of George and Lily Glassel, she was born June 15, 1929 in Callicoon.
She was a stock clerk at Peck’s Market in Jeffersonville, NY, a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Narrowsburg, and a former member of the Lutheran Church in Jeffersonville.
She is survived by her cousin, Doris Steffens of Callicoon, with whom she resided for many years; Doris’ children, Linda Parson of San Antonio, Tex., Judy Jeffers of Proctorville, OH, and Karen Armbrust of Saugerties; her sister-in-law, Eleanor Glassel of Callicoon; her personal caregivers, Rebecca Armbrust and Frank Hasenflue, both of Kingston, NY; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
There will be no calling hours.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 7, 2012 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Narrowsburg. Pastor Phyllis Haynes will officiate.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
