Sarah E. Henley
LPN, 30

Sarah E. Henley, of Monticello, NY, died Wednesday, March 7, at Orange Regional Medical Center, after a long illness. She was 30.
The daughter of Marcus D. Henley and Sohnnie L. Best-Henley, she was born on December 17, 1981 at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. The family lived in Maryland, Arkansas, Texas, and Georgia before settling in Plainville, N.Y. Sarah attended primary school in Baldwinsville, N.Y.
She received an Associate of Science from Kent State University in Ohio and a LPN from Sullivan County BOCES. She worked as a nurse, most recently at The Recovery Center in Monticello.
She is survived by her daughter, Charlee E. Henley of White Sulphur Springs, NY; her parents, Marcus D. Henley and Sohnnie L. Best-Henley of White Sulphur Springs, NY; her sister, Charli M. Henley, of Somerville, MA; and her paternal grandparents, Dorothy E. Henley and Frank D. Henley, of Nederland, TX. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Roger L. Best and Ruby J. Pruitt.
The family would like to thank all those who cared for Sarah during her long illness. She will be missed.
Visitation will be Monday, March 12, 2012 from 6-8 PM in the Harris Funeral Home, West St. at Buckley, Liberty, NY.
Funeral services will be private.
Burial will be in the Laurel Hill Cemetery, White Sulphur Springs, NY, in the spring.
Memorial contributions in Sarah’s name may be made to the Mental Health Unit of Catskill Regional Hospital, PO Box 800, Harris, NY 12742.

Grace Sohayda
Retired shipping clerk, 87

Grace Sohayda of Roscoe, NY, a retired shipping clerk for S.S. White, Staten Island, NY and a long time area resident died Sunday, March 4, 2012 at Binghamton General Hospital, Binghamton, NY. She was 87.
The daughter of the late Michael and Elizabeth Nagy Timari, she was born November 10, 1924 in Staten Island, NY.
Grace had been a Red Cross Volunteer at Richmond Memorial Hospital in Staten Island, NY; and she had been a member for over 50 years in the Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include one daughter, Bonnie Sutton and her husband William, of Dunellen, NJ; five grandchildren, Krista, Shawn, Ian and Chantel, Heather, and Katherine and her husband Robert; three great grandchildren, Aidan, Riley, and Alyse; one brother, Michael Timari and his wife Esther of NJ; one daughter-in-law, Darnell Sohayda of WA; and several nieces and nephews.
Grace was predeceased by her husband Zoltan “Bill” Sohayda in 2002; one son, William Dennis Sohayda in 2010; and one brother Charles Timari.
Memorial services will be announced at a later date.

Alvin Sodell
February 25, 1926 – March 7, 2012

Alvin Sodell, a Sullivan County resident for more than 25 years and, more recently a resident of Coconut Creek, Florida and then Richmond, Virginia, died on March 7, 2012 in Richmond, Virginia. He was 86.
Alvin – known to all as “Al” was the only child of Herman and Stella Sodell and was born on February 25, 1926 in New York City. He was a World War II Veteran serving in the Navy’s Pacific theater in salvage operations. His wife of 27 years, Velda (Abel) Sodell, a Jeffersonville native, predeceased him in 1985. He was known in Liberty and the Sullivan County business community for selling automobiles and in later years for being an avid dancer.
Survivors include his daughter Deborah Grimm Saccacio (Philip) of Afton, VA and his son Lorin Sodell (Janet) of Quinton, VA; granchildren: Jennifer Liddy (John), Tracey Hammond (Andrew), Thomas Grimm (Noelle), and James Grimm (Karen), and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be on Sunday March 11, at 11 a.m. at the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home at 388 Broadway in Monticello with interment following at the Jeffersonville Jewish Cemetery on Rt. 52 in Jeffersonville.

Henry F. Koehler
Jan. 25, 1946–March 4, 2012

Henry F. Koehler, age 66, of Monticello, N.Y. passed away peacefully on March 4, 2012. He was born and raised in Rockland County, N.Y. He spent most of his life in the Catskill Mountains because he said it was so beautiful and serene.
Henry was predeceased by his mother, Mary C. Hadley (2002), and his father, Henry W. Koehler (1962).
He is survived by his beloved sister Judith Bauer and her husband Bill of New Jersey; his nieces Kristin Bauer of Phoenix, AZ, Dianne Bauer of Tequesta, Fla., Karen Bauer-Galán and her husband Francisco Galán of Cresskill, New Jersey; his great nephew, Troy Galán; and his beloved furry companion, Winston. He is also survived by his sister Lee Sampson and her husband, Clifford, of Palmetto, Fla., nieces Alison and Michele, great niece, Destinee Wynn, uncle Harold Goswick of Sanford, N.C., and many cousins.
Henry was a very special person who loved to make people laugh. His many friends will sadly miss him, especially James, Will, Walter, John, Donny, Charlie and the staff of the Monticello VA Satellite, including Dr. Rimani, Lucille and Lee Ann.
Friends and family are invited to gather on Saturday, March 10 from 1-3 p.m. at the Van Inwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. A brief service will then be held at 3 p.m. the funeral home, with Rev. John Thomason officiating. Internment of his ashes will be held at a later date at the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery in Liberty.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Henry’s memory to Homes for Our Troops, 6 Main Street, Taunton, Mass. 02780, or to a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.

Barbara Gohde

Barbara Gohde, 81, of Carney's Point passed away on March 5, 2012. Barbara was the daughter of the late Joseph Cucci and Catherine (Fisher) Mullally. Prior to her living here in Carney's Point, she had lived in Swedesboro with her late husband Jack. It was after his passing that she moved down here to be closer to her daughter. What mattered most to her was the love of her family, her friends and the faith and love she had in Christ. She was a very down to earth and humbled person, who loved being around her kids, grandchildren, friends and neighbors at the Village Arms.
She is survived by her children, Terry Gohde and his wife Sarah of Coto De Caza, California, Jack Gohde, Jr. of Toms River and Lisa Gohde and her husband Bruce Smiley of Carney's Point, as well as four grandchildren, Matthew Henry, Abby Gohde, Emily Gohde and Jacob Gohde. Her husband Jack and a brother Ronald Cucci predeceased her.
Services will be held on Monday, March 12, 2012 at the Calvary Baptist Church, 300 Georgetown Ave., Carney's Point, NJ 08069. The family will be available starting at 10:30 AM to greet anyone who wishes to stop by and pay their respects with the Memorial Service following at 11:00 AM.
