Jessie May Townsend
Business manager for Townsend Farms, 91

Jessie May Townsend, a business manager for Townsend Farms in Cochecton, died on Sunday, March 18, 2012, at home. She was 91.
The daughter of George and Lena Hulse Neill, she was born on December 11, 1920 in Bath, N.Y.
She was married to the late Elmer Townsend.
Survivors include her children: Sharon Erdman and her husband William, of Cochecton; Wayne Townsend and his wife Mary Alice, of Farmington, New Mexico; Laurie DePaolo and her husband Carmine of New Castle, Colorado; Lisa Moran and her husband Thomas Jr., of Jeffersonville; 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her son, Walter Townsend and his fianceé, Denise Fischer; also by her sister, Carrie Nearing, and by her brother, Walter Neill.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, March 24, at Fosterdale Cemetery, at 11 a.m.
Burial will be in Fosterdale Cemetery, Fosterdale, N.Y.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Orange & Sullivan, Fosterdale United Methodist Church or Cochecton Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

Howard Schuchman
Retired owner of Cochecton General Store, 77

Howard Schuchman, the retired owner of Cochecton General Store and a dedicated community leader, died Monday, March 19, 2012 at Geisinger Family Hospice in Scranton, Pa. He was 77 years of age.
The son of the late Charles and Rhoda Reinish Schuchman, Howard was born in the Bronx, NY on March 5, 1935.
He was married to Maria Indrieri Schuchman.
Howard was a member and former treasurer of the Cochecton Mens Club; member and former treasurer of the Lake Huntington/Cochecton Fire Company and captain of the Fire Police. He was also supervisor for the Day Program at Damascus School; chairman of the Zoning Board in Damascus, Pa.; Assistant Scout Master of Troop 1776 on Merrick, Long Island; and a US Army Veteran of the Korean War.
Howard is survived by his wife, Maria Schuchman, children Joseph Porcaro and his wife, Nancy; David Schuchman (Mary); Dennis Porcaro (Donna); Steven Schuchman and Gabrielle Dunnigan (Jed).
Also, five grandchildren and six great grandchildren, brothers Paul Schuchman (Judy); Barry Schuchman and several nieces and nephews.
The family will be sitting Shiva at the home of Paul Schuchman, 5128 Hickory Lane, Stroudsburg, Pa. on Saturday and Sunday beginning at 7 p.m.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 21 at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home, 34 Upper Main Street, Callicoon, NY with the Rabbi Baruch Melman officiating.
Burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Damascus, Pa.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lake Huntington/Cochecton Fire Company.
