Elizabeth Cathrine Rhodes

Elizabeth Cathrine Rhodes of Long Eddy, NY, passed away on March 14, 2013 at home. She was 91.
She was born on October 24, 1921 in Long Eddy, the daughter of George and Cathrine (McTeague) Johnson.
Liz retired from the Long Eddy Post Office after 25 years and was an active parishioner in St. Patrick’s Church in Long Eddy. She was known as loving, caring, kind-hearted, and was cherished by everyone who knew her.
Surviving are her husband of 56 years, Ronald Sr.; four children, Mike and wife Amy Rhodes, Jeffersonville, NY; Ronald Rhodes Jr., Long Eddy, NY; Delores Hauser, Long Eddy, NY; and William Gorham, Astoria, NY; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Liz was predeceased by three daughters, Kathrine Miller, Mary Ricco and Darlene Peake; two grandsons, Paul Ricco, and Marshall Miller Jr.; three sisters, Isabel, Josephine and Anna; and two brothers, Bill and Mike.
A Funeral Mass was held Monday, March 18, 2013 at St. Patrick’s Church in Long Eddy, NY.
Burial was made in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Long Eddy.

Frances Evelyn Benedict
Formerly of Callicoon Center, 98
Frances Evelyn Benedict passed away Thursday, March 14, 2013, at The Valley Inn Nursing Home in Mancos, Colo. She was 98 years old.
Born April 8, 1914, in Union City, N.J., Frances grew up in Brooklyn, N.Y. She met and married her husband, Joseph Benedict, in New York, and they were successfully married for 52 years. The Benedicts had two sons, Peter and Paul. They retired to Callicoon Center, N.Y. in 1975.
Mrs. Benedict moved to Bayfield, Colo., in 1998 to live with her son and her daughter-in-law.
Mrs. Benedict was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, and her son Paul. She is survived by her son Peter of Bayfield, Colo., and several nieces and nephews.
She will be cremated, and services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the charity of your choice.

Richard W. Hankins
Truck Driver, 68
Richard W. Hankins of Livingston Manor passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2013 at Catskill Regional Medical Center. He was 68.
He was the son of Eva Lacey Terwilliger, born in Liberty, NY on January 24, 1945.
Richard was a truck driver for Schmidt's Wholesale in Monticello for many years. He was a member of the Cornerstone Community Church in Grooville and a member of the NRA. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all that knew and loved him; his charm will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Rose Mary DeVoe Hankins; his loving mother, Eva Lacey Terwilliger; one son, James Hankins; three stepchildren: Joy Martin and her husband, Jordan, Adam Bivins, and Jarad Bivins and his wife, Becky; four grandchildren: Dylan Hankins, Nicole Johnson and her husband, Adam, Hannah and Lydia Martin; two great-grandchildren: Helena and Price Johnson; several aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends. He was predeceased by his stepfather, Roger Terwilliger and his father-in-law, Paul DeVoe.
A funeral service was held Friday, March 15, 2013 at Herbert C. Bryant Funeral Home, Livingston Manor, NY with Pastor Paul Nilsen officiating.
