Lois Lukas
January 17, 1947 - June 24, 2013
Lois Lukas died from heart failure in her home on June 24, 2013. She was 66. Born January 17, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Pearl and Harold Bjorklund, growing up in Fremont Center and Callicoon.
Lois graduated from DVCS in Callicoon as Valedictorian of the Class of ’65. She attended Fairleigh Dickinson University in NJ, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a BA in English, and later earned an MS in Gerontology from the University of South Florida.
Lois moved to the Tampa Bay area twenty-five years ago from Flushing, Queens, where she had owned a survey coding company. In Florida, she first ran a realty company, then worked as a docent at the Salvador Dali Museum in St. Petersburg. She had lived in the downtown area of St. Pete since 2002.
Lois was predeceased by a brother, Richard, and is survived by a brother, Robert; a sister-in-law, Anna; a niece, two nephews and several cousins.
In accordance with her wishes, her ashes will be spread in the New York City area.

Ann Danuff of Glen Spey, NY, passed away Thursday, July 11, 2013 in Valhalla, NY. She was 83.
The daughter of the late Michael and Dorothy Iser Freedman, she was born June 11, 1930 in Brooklyn, NY. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Sol Danuff, her cowboy sweetheart.
Ann wore many hats throughout her life, including: medical assistant, research chemist (had lunch with Albert Einstein,) classroom teacher, Special Education teacher, Special Education administrator, and barrel racer at circuit rodeos. She also was very active in the community as a volunteer with: Lumberland Environmental Council, Lumberland Board of Assessment Review, Sullivan County Legislative Action Committee, Lumberland Democratic Club, charter member of Lumberland Fire Dept. Auxiliary, Lumberland rep. for Sullivan County Office for Aging, life member of Hadassah, member of Temple Shalom prime timers, Lumberland seniors, Lions Club and Friends of the Library.
Survivors include: son, Steve Danuff and partner, Kay Hannah of Paonia, CO; daughters: Lori Danuff McKean and husband, Michael McKean of Shohola, PA, Shari Danuff Biro and husband, Andrew of the Town of Greenville, NY, Michele Danuff Brigham and husband, Steve of Westtown, NY; seven grandchildren: Lauryl Danuff, Ben, Sarah and Rachel McKean, Kaylie and Mackenzie Biro, Courtney Brigham and one great grandchild, Etienne.
Graveside service will be held Friday, July 12 at 1 p.m. at Beth David Cemetery, 300 Elmont Rd., Elmont, NY. A Memorial celebration of her life will be held in the near future.
