Liberty Fitness Center hosts SilverSneakers program

LIBERTY — June 1, 2010 — Last Thursday morning, the Liberty Fitness Center on North Main Street in the village invited senior citizens to its third free Health Fair.
Sullivan County Community College participated with a station to check blood pressure, and SilverSneakers, a national organization designed to promote physical fitness in senior citizens, was promoting the event.
Liberty Fitness Center and Fitness Factory of Monticello are both partnering with the nationally recognized Healthways SilverSneakers Fitness Program.
SilverSneakers is designed exclusively for Medicare-eligible individuals and provides their members with locations to enjoy physical activity, health education and social events.
With SilverSneakers, eligible members have a complimentary membership to participating locations.
Every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at 10 a.m. Liberty Fitness Center has a workout designed specifically for SilverSneaker members.
“In addition to helping our members stay physically healthy, SilverSneakers also offers a great way for them to socialize, meet new friends and have fun.” said Kristina Stevens of SilverSneakers.
With a turnout of 32 individuals, the Health Fair was deemed a success.
