Fallsburg Tamayo soccer team is having an excellent season

FALLSBURG — June 11, 2010 — So far, the 2010 season has been a very successful one for the Fallsburg Soccer Club Fallsburg Tamayo team.
The coed team for players between the ages of 8 and 12 competes in the Hudson Valley Youth Soccer League.
Through its first six games of the regular season, Fallsburg Tamayo was undefeated with a record of 5-0-1. The team posted wins against Greenwood Lake, Middletown, Pine Bush and West Point and tied Port Jervis.
Unfortunately, Fallsburg Tamayo’s hopes for an undefeated season ended this past Sunday afternoon when the team suffered a 4-2 loss to Port Jervis in a game played at Fallsburg High School.
“It’s disappointing to lose this game,” Fallsburg Tamayo Coach Oscar Tamayo said. “But we are still in first place and we are going to win the [league] championship.”
“It’s been a good season,” added Oscar Tamayo, who has coached the team for five years.
Oscar Tamayo noted that his two sons, Andres Felipe Tamayo and Daniel Tamayo, “played very well” in the match against Port Jervis.
Andres Felipe and Daniel’s teammates on the Fallsburg Tamayo squad are: Jennifer Davila, Brandon Davis, Juan Dendariarena, Armani Harris, Nazir Jones, Kelvin Muniz, Kelvin Nunez, Guillermo Orellana, Krystopher Pupo, Kevin Sikorski and Patrick Sikorski.
Vinny Sikorski is the team’s assistant coach.
Since Fallsburg Tamayo is based in Fallsburg, most of the players on the team are students in the Fallsburg Central School District. However, three players – Krystopher Pupo, Kevin Sikorski and Patrick Sikorski – are students in the Monticello Central School District.
Fallsburg Tamayo will conclude the regular season this Sunday by playing a game at Greenwood Lake.
The following Sunday, Fallsburg Tamayo will play a semifinal match, probably against Pine Bush. If it wins that contest, Fallsburg Tamayo will advance to the following weekend’s championship game.
