SULLIVAN COUNTY — December 3, 2010 — The 2010 high school cross country season lasted a little longer for a few Sullivan County runners.
Those runners, who attend the Eldred Central and Sullivan West Central School Districts, competed in prestigious regional meets last Saturday, Nov. 27.
Three Eldred runners – Alex Campanella, Christine Donnelly and Hunter Proscia – participated in the Nike New York Regional, which was held on a 3.1-mile course at Bowdoin Park in Wappingers Falls.
Campanella, who is a sophomore, finished 45th in the Boys’ New York race with a time of 17 minutes, 8.2 seconds.
Proscia, a junior, placed 140th in the Boys’ New York race. His time was 19:00.5.
Donnelly, a junior, finished 108th in the Girls’ New York race with a time of 22:52.7.
Four Sullivan West runners – Rachel Deppa, Rianne Erlwein, Dani Myers and Reed Scott Jr. – competed at the Foot Locker Northeast Regional at Sunken Meadow State Park on Long Island.
Scott placed 40th among the 67 runners who participated in the Boys’ Sophomore race. He ran the course in a time of 19:29.
Erlwein finished 30th among the 50 runners in the Girls’ Senior race. Her time was 23:13.1.
Deppa posted a time of 23:23.3 in the Girls’ Junior race, which placed her 39th out of 55 runners.
Myers finished 13th among the 39 runners in the Girls’ Sophomore Race. Her time was 21:34.7.
