Local runners compete at OCIAA championships

WARWICK — Dozens of athletes from Sullivan County high schools competed in the 2009 Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association (OCIAA) Track and Field Championships last Friday and Saturday at Warwick Valley High School.
A few of the events were held on Friday afternoon. The rest of the events were held on Saturday, beginning at 9:30 a.m. and finishing around 2:45 p.m.
In the girls’ team standings, Liberty was the Sullivan County team which posted the best finish. The Lady Indians earned 12 points to finish 11th.
Monticello garnered 11 points to place 12th. Tri-Valley placed 15th with eight points and Eldred scored one point to tie for 16th.
In the boys’ team standings, Sullivan West was the top county team. The Bulldogs earned 10 points to finish 11th. Eldred, Monticello and Tri-Valley all scored one point to finish tied for 15th place.
