CALLICOON – Not only was the 11th Annual Callicoon Canoe Regatta run on one of the nicest days of the summer, last Sunday, but the times in the 7.5 mile race were pretty hot also.
“It was a big regatta,” Race organizer Tom Freda said. “We had 78 boats and 120 contestants.”
The regatta also serves as a fundraiser for the Delaware Community Center and Freda expects this year’s race to do exceptionally well.
“The kayak raffle was won by David Knudsen, a local realtor with Catskills Buyer Agency,” Freda said.
“He donated $100 in tickets and he instructed us if he won to donate the kayak back to the Community Center for an auction,” Freda said. “So we auctioned off the kayak for $250 and Rob Dawson and Vicky Papadeas Dawson bought it.”
