SULLIVAN COUNTY A total of 16 athletes from Sullivan County high schools competed on Saturday at the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) cross country meet at SUNY Plattsburgh.
Turning in the best individual performances in their respective classes were Eldred sophomore Hunter Proscia and Sullivan West freshman Dani Myers. Proscia ran the course in a time of 16 minutes, 38.2 seconds to place 11th in the boys’ Class D race.
Myers finished 21st in the girls’ Class C race in a time of 19:46.6.
Proscia’s Eldred teammate, freshman Alex Campanella, was 31st in the boys’ Class D event with a time of 17:18.2.

Seward girls’ team was supposed to represent Section IX in the girls’ Class D NYSPHSAA race after winning the title at the sectional meet on Nov. 6 at Bear Mountain State Park. But some of the members of the Seward Lady Spartans cross country squad also play for the school’s girls’ soccer team, which defeated North Salem, 3-1, on penalty kicks last Wednesday afternoon at Faller Field in Middletown in the opening round of the state Class C girls’ soccer tournament.
As a result, Donnelly and teammates Kristina Brown, Regina Davies, Selena Hudak, Erika Vorstadt and Samantha Warden all ran in the Class D event in Plattsburgh.
