NARROWSBURG March 11, 2008 Board members, volunteers, parents and soccer players hosted a Penny Social on Saturday at the Tusten Town Hall to raise funds for the American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) of the Town of Tusten.
AYSO Regional Commissioner Wendy Julkerski noted that the event would not have been such a success without assistance from the community.
“We received so many donations from local businesses to businesses in Pennsylvania as well in our surrounding area,” Julkerski said. “We thank these businesses for their generous donations for the kids of AYSO and they deserve credit for the success of today’s event.”
Doreen Wyss, Child Volunteer Protection Advocate for the AYSO, added, “These businesses have not only helped us out with their donations, but they have helped our kids gain new equipment as well as helping us with the additional costs that it takes to run the AYSO.
“The parents and the kids that are here today should also be commended,” Wyss continued. “They are also a big part of this and we thank them for their support.”
The funds raised by Saturday’s AYSO Penny Social will go toward offsetting the costs of referees’ equipment, supplies and equipment including goal cages and additional coaches’ training which may be required.
