CALLICOON April 20, 2007 The Sullivan West girls’ golf team began its 2007 season on a positive note.
The Lady Bulldogs defeated Ellenville, 183-191, in an Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association (OCIAA) Division III match on Wednesday afternoon at the Villa Roma Golf Course in Callicoon.
The course was a bit wet in several spots due to the heavy rains that fell on Sullivan County from Sunday morning through Monday afternoon. But that didn’t seem to slow down the Lady Bulldogs, who are guided by Coach Jeff Molusky.
SW improved to 1-0 overall and 1-0 in OCIAA play, while Ellenville fell to 0-1 and 0-1, respectively.
Leading the Lady Bulldogs to the victory was eighth-grader Jillian Fife. She shot a 56 on the Villa’s par 35 front nine.
Senior Lauren Ellison and sophomore Claire Stabbert recorded a 62 and a 65, respectively, for SW.
Caitlin Logan, a senior, had the day’s best score for the Lady Blue Devils. She shot a 62.
Caitlin’s sister, Erin Logan, who is a sophomore, carded a 63.
Ellenville senior Sarah Hufnagel fired a 67.
