POUGHKEEPSIE — May 23, 2008 — Heading into Wednesday’s second round of the 2008 Section IX boys’ golf championship at Casperkill Golf Club in Poughkeepsie, Liberty senior Josh Goldstein was five strokes behind Rondout Valley sophomore Andrew DeForest.
But Goldstein recorded a 2-under-par 70 on the Casperkill course to win the sectional title with a total score of 146. DeForest, who shot an even par 71 in Monday’s first round at the Villa Roma Country Club in Callicoon, fired an 81 on Wednesday for a final score of 152.
