CALLICOON — The third annual R & H Gorr Excavating Men’s Softball Tournament to benefit the Delaware Youth Center in Callicoon will be held Friday, June 17 through Sunday, June 19.
The tournament, which will include 12 to 14 area teams, gets underway at 6 p.m. Friday at the Delaware Youth Center field as well as Bjorklund Fields in Fremont Center. Games will continue on Saturday at the three fields. The championship game is scheduled to be held at 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the Delaware Youth Center.
A DJ will play music at the Delaware Youth Center pavilion during the tournament.
Proceeds from the concession stand at the Fremont Center fields will benefit those fields.
This spring, members of the R&H Gorr Excavating and Darder Stone Works teams made more than $5,000 worth of improvements to the Delaware Youth Center field.
The improvements included adding clay to the infield and painting the dugouts. The players have also mowed the grass and lined the field on a weekly basis.
The players who have helped with those improvements and field maintenance are Brian Buday, Kurt Buddenhagen, Brad Molusky, Jeff Molusky and Chris Reichmann of R&H Gorr Excavating and Orion Darder and Corey Hornicek of Darder Stone Works.
