COCHECTON CENTER The 52nd annual Delaware Valley Little Fellows League (DVLFL) All-Star Game took place on Saturday afternoon at Heinle’s Field in Cochecton Center.
The cloudy day brought out tens of family and friends, who persevered in their support all through the drizzling rain. Those family members and friends also supported the teams throughout the season.
The game was played between the Home Team and the Away Team. The Home Team included players from the Cochecton Oil Giants, Beach Lake (Pa.) Driving Range Cardinals and Sonny’s Service Center Braves. The Away Team consisted of players from the GS Plumbing Dodgers and the Freda Realty Phillies.
The Away Team Coaches were Roger Kenyon, Shawn Taylor and Rob Zaccari, although Zaccari was unable to attend the game.
The Home Team Coaches were George Muller and Rob Taylor.
The Home Team won, 14-9.
Cory Muller of the Cardinals went 3-for-4. He hit a grand slam home run and had six RBIs. He was named the Home Team’s Most Valuable Player for the game.
Two Dodgers players, Alan Sipple and Colin Flynn, had doubles for the Away Team. Flynn was named the Most Valuable Player for the game for the Away Team.
The Home Team players included: Jared Davis (Braves), Alec Dragos (Cardinals), Ayden Gann (Braves), Justin Gibbs (Cardinals), Colin Housechild (Braves), Dylan Jungblut-Mercado (Giants), Tommy Kent (Giants), Max Kraft (Cardinals), Brandon Mitterwager (Giants), Cory Muller (Cardinals), Logan Muller (Cardinals), Will Reiger (Cardinals), Austin Williams (Braves).
The Away Team players included: Brandon Canfield (Phillies), Brett Dirie (Phillies), Colin Flynn (Dodgers), Tim Haas (Dodgers), Sean Highhouse (Phillies), Jonathan Kabonick (Phillies), Gavin Kelly (Dodgers), Jacqueline Kenyon (Phillies), Roger Kenyon (Phillies), Anthony McDevitt (Dodgers), Alex Schwab (Dodgers), Alan Sipple (Dodgers) and Harold Wilson (Dodgers).
An awards ceremony took place after the game.
For the third year in a row, the GS Plumbing Dodgers won the regular season championship.
The Beach Lake Driving Range Cardinals came in second and the Freda Realty Phillies finished in third place.
The final 2011 league standings were: 1. Narrowsburg Dodgers, 8-2; 2. Beach Lake Driving Range Cardinals, 7-3; 3. Cochecton Phillies, 4-6; 4. Cochecton Center Giants, 3-7; 5. Narrowsburg Braves, 3-7.
