Tri-Valley sweeps indoor track championships

LOCH SHELDRAKE — TTri-Valley made it a clean sweep at the Sullivan County Indoor Track Championships held on Monday afternoon, Feb. 13 in the Paul Gerry Fieldhouse on the SUNY Sullivan campus in Loch Sheldrake.
The T-V boys took first place with 103 points. Liberty placed second with 71 points and Monticello was third with 58 points.
In the girls’ competition, T-V prevailed with 137 points. Liberty finished second with 76 points and Sullivan West placed third with 66 points.
Competitors from Eldred, Ellenville, Liberty, Monticello, Sullivan West and Tri-Valley participated in the meet, which included several individual and relay running events, high jump and shot put. Every school had an individual or team winner.
In the Sullivan County Championship, Monticello sprinter Tino Taylor took first place in both the 300-meter and 600-meter runs. His winning time in the 300 was 38.59 seconds and his winning time in the 600 was 1 minute, 31.5 seconds.
Duncan was also a member of the first-place 800 relay team. Duncan and teammates Terry Duncan, Steve Padin and Talon Watson won the event in a time of 1:40.7.
Eldred boys’ team of Adrian Krzystofowicz, Matt Watts, Alex Campanella and Hunter Proscia won the 1,600 relay in 3:48.
Krzystofowicz finished first in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.22 seconds, while Ellenville’s Tyler O’Bryant won 55-meter dash in 6.53 seconds.
T-V’s team of Omar Lopez, Jimmy Bernstein, Justin Weintraub and Aric Boyes prevailed in the 3,200 relay in 9:01.4.
Bernstein also won the 1,000 in 2:52.9 and the 1,600 in 4:57.
Sullivan West’s Reed Scott won the individual 3,200-meter run with a time of 10:37.4. Sullivan West’s Mitch Paciga placed first in the high jump (5 feet, 6 inches).
Garrett LaPolt of Monticello won the shot put (50 feet, 3 1/4 inches).
T-V won six out of the 12 events in the girls’ competition. The Lady Bears finished first in the 3,000, 1,000, 55-meter hurdles, 1,500, 3,200 relay and shot put. Autumn Bender won three of those events: 1,000 (3:28.5), 1,500 (5:37.5) and 3,200 (11:53.1). Vicky Tingley won the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 9.44 seconds and the team of 3200 relay consisted of Alexandra Brooks, Brooke Gillette, Danielle Graham, and Olivia Rehm won the 3,200 relay in 11:28.2. Dominique Darby won the high jump (33-6).
Liberty’s Rebecca Harman won the 600, and teamed with Amanda Bertholf, Lila Schiff and Lara Heslop to win the 800 relay in a time of 1:58.8. Harman also took first place in the 600 in 1:45.2.
Sullivan West’s team of Amanda Rosenberger, Rosa Martinez, Kristina Sumfleth, and Hannah Feinman won 1,600 relay in 4:28.4.
The other individual event winners were Ellenville’s Genece May (55-meter dash, 7.41 seconds), Monticello’s Tania Walker (300, 44.68 seconds) and Eldred’s Erika Bowring (high jump, 4-8.)
