CALLICOON – With two weeks still left until the first ball is hit, the 31st Annual Sullivan County Democrat Two-Man Better Ball Golf Tournament is a sell out.
“That’s great,” Fred Stabbert III, tournament sponsor and Democrat publisher said yesterday afternoon. “It was really hectic this week, I had five teams sign up in one day.”
‘The Democrat’ will tee off on Friday, July 27 at 8 a.m. at the Villa Roma Country Club in Callicoon, which has hosted the event for nearly two decades. It will continue throughout the weekend.
The course is rounding into shape and should provide a great test for the 56, two-man teams who are all vying to become “Democrat champion.”
“We have players arriving from California, New York City and New Jersey,” Stabbert said. “This tournament seems to bring everyone back to their roots each year to enjoy great golf and great camaraderie."
